Accommodations
With 6' 1" headroom the Dana 24 feels like a much larger boat. Stepping down the companionway, to port is a full galley with a gimbaled Force 10 two burner propane stove with oven, a large insulated icebox, a 10" deep sink with hand pump and a fold-up extension to the counter space. To starboard is the walk-in head compartment with manual head, a sink with hand pump, an integral shower pan and a hanging wet locker.
Four people can sleep comfortably with two 6' 6" settees and a forward V-berth that is 6' 8" long and 6' 9" wide. There is additional storage in two large drawers and a drop locker beneath the berth, cabin shelving and a hanging locker. A clever dining table slides out from beneath the V berth when needed. The interior exudes the warmth of had rubbed oiled teak with teak joinery and cabinets above a teak and holly sole. Eight bronze opening ports and a large Bomar deck hatch provide good light and ventilation.
The builder boats that the Dana 24s interior is "fully 50 percent larger than other boats of similar length".
On Deck
A cutter rig with 3' teak bowsprit with anchor roller, plow type anchor chain and nylon rode. Stainless steel bow and stern rails with stanchions and lifelines. Bronze cleats, chocks and opening ports. Large Bomar deck hatch. The cockpit with tiller steering can accommodate up to six adults. The cockpit bench seats are 6'3" long and 18" wide with storage below. There is a green dodger with matching cockpit cushions. A removable deck hatch in the cockpit floor provided good engine room access.
There is a propane tank storage compartment at the rear of the cockpit.
