Description
A very popular yacht (over 50 were built) with a handsome, euro style profile and extravagant accommodations, The 70 Cockpit MY is among the most luxurious production yachts ever offered by Hatteras during the 1990’s. She’s basically a 65 Motor Yacht with a cockpit addition (the extra hull length allows for an additional 426 gallons of fuel beneath the cockpit sole). Like most modern Hatteras motor yachts, the floorplan is arranged with the galley and dinette on the deckhouse level where It’s convenient to the salon. The spacious full-width salon (there are no side decks on this yacht) is extended well aft, leaving only a small afterdeck overlooking the cockpit. The wheelhouse and galley are both enclosed in this layout and separated from the salon. This model is the original design with a standard four-stateroom floorplan with twin engine rooms. The flybridge is massive with space for a dinghy aft, and the side decks are partially sheltered by flybridge wings. Twin 870hp 12V71’s cruise at 16-17 knots.

Vessel Walkthrough
Carefree is large, classic Cockpit Motor Yacht built by Hatteras. With the incredibly vast amount of space both inside and out, this motor yacht is ideal as both a liveaboard option and for extended cruising. There 4 staterooms and 4 bathrooms on this boat plus an extra single berth below the helm downstairs that serves as extra storage or a captain’s berth.
Boarding from the aft deck, there is a large open cockpit with plenty of storage and an outdoor sink convenient for swimming, fishing, and entertaining. Up from the cockpit is the main level aft deck where you enter through glass doors into the main salon. Equipped with a wet bar, liquor storage, flat screen TV and a dining room table, the main salon has everything you need for home comforts while at sea.
Just forward of the main salon is the galley. The galley sports full size appliances, a large open countertop and a half circle breakfast table with storage all throughout. Continuing forward of the galley is the pilothouse. Here in the pilothouse, you have sliding doors on either side of the helm leading to the bow, a bench seat, small refrigerator and the set of stairs that take you up to the flybridge.
Down the pilothouse stairs that sit starboard of the helm, you enter into the living space of the boat. Here you have many closets spread throughout including a washer and dryer. Below the floor in the main room from the pilothouse stairs sit the generators. All the way forward is a guest cabin with private bathroom and 2 separate guest cabins are on the port side. Moving aft down the hallway after the 3rd guest cabin, you have separate engine rooms on either side of the hallway. After the engine rooms, you enter in the master stateroom with a private bath, large cedar closet and a full-size bed.
The flybridge is extremely spacious with ample seating and entertaining space. A second helm makes for enjoyable fair-weather cruising and eases the docking process. Behind the U-shaped flybridge seating lies a davit and tender storage so you can take your dinghy with you on all of your seagoing adventures.

Mitch Flinn grew up in a small Texas town, finding any opportunity he could to spend time on the water. He started his own lawn mowing company at the age of 15 to work towards buying his own small aluminum boat that he then spent every free minute taking to Lake Georgetown. After graduating high school, his love for the ocean sent him to the island town of Galveston Texas where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M University Galveston. While in college, Mitch worked as a deck hand on several charter and commercial fishing boats, spending on average 150 days a year at sea and eventually earning his captains license.
After Graduating from college, Mitch relocated to Fort Lauderdale where he joined the Bradford Marine Yacht Sales Team. Being one of the youngest members of our team, Mitch uses his personality and eagerness, mixed with the Bradford Marine advantage to ensure a quality and enjoyable experience for all his clients.
