Description
The Fortier 26 is an Eldredge-McInnis design that combines Down East and bass boat characteristics in what the builder calls an honest sea boat for fishing and cruising. Otter is a fine example of all that has made this Buzzards Bay built boat a favorite of both fisherman and pleasure boaters alike. This 1978 Fortier 26 has benefitted from great care by her current and former owners. She has a recent beautiful blue Awlgrip paint, Lewmar windlass and stainless steel plow anchor, and Simrad GPS touch.
Soon after he bought her, the current owner brought the boat to Fortier to have several upgrades and maintenance work done to refresh her including recent:
- Factory built teak windscreen
- Engine Oil cooler, water pump, hoses, belts and alternator/generator
- Hydraulic steering cylinder
- Thru-hulls
- Refinished teak bowsprit
Featuring a huge deep cockpit, that measures nearly 9' wide by 16' long between the cabin bulkhead and the transom the Fortier 26 offers a stable fishing platform, but also offers room for family and friends to gather and enjoy a sunset whether at the dock or at anchor. Her cuddy cabin has simple accommodations including a sink, ice box, v-birth and head to make an overnight stay enjoyable.
Her hull features a fine bow and narrow entry forward which helps reduce pounding and improves maneuverability in short choppy seas. There is ample flare forward and a full-length, molded spray rail that runs along the chine from the stem to the transom to keep the boat and crew dry. Her The 10' beam is considerable for a 26' boat of this vintage and gives her the feeling of a much larger boat. A molded keel runs nearly the full length of the boat and adds to the boat's directional stability as well as provides excellent protection for the shaft, propeller, and rudder. The rudder is supported on the bottom by a cast bronze shoe that extends from the keel.
Beneath the 3' by 4' engine box about centered in the boat is a solid, dependable 200 hp Volvo turbo-diesel and simple, direct drive train... the same kind of bullet proof, time-tested configuration relied upon by just about all commercial fishermen in this size and class of vessel.
Otter is represented by Mark Weston with Brewer Yacht Sales and is available for showing in Warwick RI.

I have spent most of my life on and around boats beginning as a young child, learning to sail Sunfish and Hobie Cats, driving on my Dad’s lap in a classic mahogany lake boat, and cruising the Jersey shore with my parents and brothers aboard our 36ft Chris Craft. After moving to New England I continued to seek the boating life with my own family and owned a variety of sail and power boats that brought me cherished times with friends and family.
Drawing on my experiences over the past 25 years developing and selling theme park and water park attractions across the globe as well as my background as a Psychologist, I decided to pursue my lifelong passion to work in the marine industry. Being a customer of Brewer Yacht Sales over the years, I have seen the professionalism and quality of the team and am happy to join them as a broker.
In addition to being an avid and experienced boater, I am a careful listener and an astute negotiator- both skills that I look forward to putting to work to help my clients find and secure the perfect boat for their needs and lifestyle, or sell when it comes time.
