ACCOMMODATIONS
The main companionway is amidships and leads to a covered dodger. As you enter below decks, the navigation station is immediately to starboard, making it easily accessed from above. This comfortable nav station has built-in instrumentation and an aircraft style double pole circuit breaker panel with breakers.
Aft of the Nav Station is one of two identical guest staterooms with pull out double berths and a bunk bed above which will sleep three on each side. There is ample closet and counter space and storage below the berths. Opposite the Nav Station on the port side is the guest head with stall shower, vanity sink and storage and privacy door. Both guest staterooms are well-ventilated with cockpit hatches, air conditioning and fan.
LOCURA offers an open concept salon, galley, and dining area with clear view from the entrance to the master.
The large galley to port, in the after portion of the salon, features an under the counter refrigerator and freezer. The refrigerator has two side-loading doors, and the large chest type freezer is top-loaded. Over 20’ of Corian counter surface gives ample space for meal preparation. A new propane oven/broiler, a built-in microwave and double stainless-steel sinks fully complement the galley.
Across from the galley and to starboard, the large U-shaped dinette will seat six. Four, 31” square deck hatches can be opened to provide great circulation.
To port forward of the galley is an L-shaped sofa and built-in stationary cocktail table and an end table with storage. Opposite to starboard, there are two built-in upholstered swivel chairs with a built-in table between them that wraps around each side. The salon also has ample storage with lower cabinets and a bookcase.
Forward of the salon is the master stateroom with an ensuite head, stall shower, a vanity, sink and storage. Opposite the head is ample closet, cabinets, and storage. The master stateroom has 6’7” headroom on centerline and incorporates a queen-sized bed to port and sofa with end table on starboard, hanging lockers, drawers, and cabinet. The mattress is designed in such a way as to allow the lee cloth to be attached while at sea. A privacy door separates the forward stateroom from the salon. Both aft stateroom bunks have lee cloths for upper bunk and lower double bunk.
A large forepeak locker forward, accessed through a deck hatch on the centerline and is separated from the main accommodations by a watertight bulkhead. This is devoted as a locker for stowage of sails, lines, sheets, inflatables, dinghy, anchor chain and gear. It has 6’6” headroom and at 9’ long could be converted to a crew cabin and has its own head if used for crew quarters.
Cockpit
LOCURA’S cockpit has a 7' long seating area port and starboard. Aft of the helm there are two comfortable swivel captain’s chairs. The full-beam engine room behind the helm is accessed by two large 31” hatches to starboard and port, separated from the rest of the boat by a watertight bulkhead in the engine room. Aft of the engine room is a stainless-steel ladder to a large swim platform that has safety equipment and a fold down swim ladder.
LOCURA’S cockpit is step up so that sails can be trimmed and handled all within easy reach of the helm station with a full complement of Barient winches.

John grew up sailing out of Manhasset Bay on Long Island Sound and made his way out to San Diego in 1973. He became a familiar face in the marine industry, from boat builder to North Sails salesman to running North Graphics. Hired by founder Lowell North, John went on to become North Sails President Gary Weisman’s right-hand man. He managed and trained the North American sales group. In 2013 , John took on the role of managing the North Graphics and was instrumental in their transition from a regional service to a global division. His final North project was the branding of 150 sails for every team on the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race.
John began his new venture at Fraser in 2018 as a deliverer of dreams. Through his time in the industry, he had the great fortune to work with, sail and get to know some of the best sailors, Owners and Captains of our time. Having worked with the likes of adventurer Steve Fossett and “Playstation”, John brings a vast multihull background. With this expertise he will help guide boaters through the exciting sales experience. Over the course of his career he has taken pride in having made yachting fun for all his yachting comrades and clients. In John’s new role at Fraser, you can be sure this will continue to be his focus.
He and his wife of over 40 years live in La Jolla, California. Together they have 3 grown children. He is still active in the sailboat racing world and is a Life Member of San Diego Yacht Club. Other hobbies include run/walking and “casual” cycling.
