Overview
Accommodations
Interior layout;
- A major advantage of the Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge is that this model offers an interior with very few steps or stairs, making her a safe choice for a family with young active children as well as easy to manage for an older couple. Overall, this is an expansive floor plan for a 40 footer.
- Entry into the main salon is just a couple of steps down from the cockpit level through a sliding door in the aft bulkhead. There is a large L-shaped settee to starboard, spacious U-shaped dinette to port that can convert to an additional double berth and the U-shaped galley is forward to port.
- Continuing forward and down one step you enter a hallway. To port is a guest cabin with over and under bunks, hanging locker forward, drawers, reading lights, and overhead hatch. To starboard is a large head with a separate shower stall, moded fiberglass counter with storage underneath, stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressure water and mirror. The head has dual entry from the hall or from the master cabin forward for privacy.
- All the way forward is the master stateroom that features a queen-sized walk-around berth with storage drawer under. There are 2 hanging lockers, overhead hatch, overhead lights and reading lights, and bookshelves outboard.
- Moving to the exterior of the vessel:The Mainship 40 flybridge features a large, uncluttered flybridge with plentiful seating and storage. The flybridge is accessed from the cockpit by way of wide, easy-to-climb steps rather than a ladder like earlier models had. It has a centerline helm with a bench seat and wraparound seating for guests forward. An ingenious and conveniently located cutout in the bridge coaming forward provides direct access to the foredeck. She has a bimini with a full enclosure.
- She has a large cockpit with built-in bench seating/storage lockers both to port and starboard. Two large hatches in the cockpit sole offer convenient engine access. A center transom gate leads aft to the integrated swim platform with a ladder. The swim platform also has two storage benches. The water has always been a part of my life since learning to sail aboard a Sailfish while vacationing in Chatham, Massachusetts. At twelve, I graduated to Penguins and 420’s at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. My parents always belonged to the Corinthian Yacht Club in Philadelphia and I often accompanied them on cruises aboard a Hinckley Bermuda 40 that we cruised in the Chesapeake.
Understanding banking after working 12 years for Loyola Savings and Loan of Maryland, I helped navigate the purchase of a 32’ Pearson Vanguard for a friend and taught him to sail. Loving the idea of sharing my passion for boating, I joined Oxford Boatyard Yacht Sales (in what is now Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard and Marina) in 1990 and worked as a broker and office manager for 25 years.
In 1993, Oxford Boatyard Yacht Sales became a dealer for Sabre and Back Cove Motor Yachts and I acquired an understanding and respect for powerboats. I worked closely with the boatyard commissioning new vessels and working as a liaison between new owners and the marina. I have an intimate understanding of the boat buying process - how to guide new owners through surveys, sea trials, registration, and documentation.
I love all boats and each one has its own quality. Though I would consider myself a traditionalist in boat design, I like what the new designs offer in comfort and ability.
My husband (of 30 years) and I live in Easton, Maryland. My husband is the rigging supervisor at Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard and our daughter, having graduated from Washington College in 2020, is now teaching English as well as coaching the sailing team at the Gunston School in Centreville, Md. She has recently come on board as the Summer Sailing Director with the Tred Avon Yacht Club.
I am starting my 7th year as a broker with Brewer Yacht Sales and in addition to my office at Safe Harbor Zahniser’s in Solomon’s, Maryland I now have an office at Safe Harbor Oxford. This enables me to cover the territory from the Eastern Shore to Solomon’s Island and everything in between.
I look forward to speaking with you and sharing my passion for boats. Let me help you find the perfect yacht or support and guide you in the sale of your existing vessel!
