For over 40 years, Joe has helped many of his clients realize their boating dreams. He’d like to help you too. With extensive experience as a sailor, boat builder, yacht broker, businessman and a proven negotiator, Joe will provide you with sound advice and representation. You will find his practical experience and broad product knowledge insightful in comparing and evaluating yachts you are considering. If your goal is to sell your boat, his sales and marketing experience will help you to sell your boat quickly, for the most dollars possible and have the process be hassle free.
As one of a only 125 of the 4000 licensed brokers in Florida to qualify as a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB), you will be assured of honest and accurate representation and that your interests are always protected. Joe has worked diligently to help hundreds of his clients buy or sell either power or sailing yachts. Many of my clients have become lifelong friends. he’d like the opportunity to earn that relationship with you.
The Early Years:
Joe’s love of the sea motivated me to earning a degree in marine biology and chemistry. Unable to find a career in his field and after numerous course in sales and marketing, he began his career in the yacht business in 1978 working with CSY, Caribbean Sailing Yachts in Tampa, Florida in the sales department.
Over the years, Joe was vice president of sales and marketing for several yacht manufactures which included Gulfstar yachts, Lazzara Marine, Morgan Yachts and Irwin Yachts. During that time he had the incredible opportunity to work side by side with several of the “legends” in the boat building industry.
Joe also had the pleasure of working with Azimut Benetti, the Italian manufacture that is the largest builder of motor yachts over eighty feet in the world. Through these experiences, Joe gained intimate product knowledge and a thorough understanding of the construction process that you may find helpful in comparing different yachts.
The Middle Years:
Joe’s experience in yacht brokerage sales is extensive and varied and includes selling hundreds of sail and power yachts. He also owned the first completely computerized yacht brokerage, Preferred Yachts. Located next door to the St Pete Yacht Club and the 600+ slip Municipal Marina, we were a waterfront fixture for over a decade.
Always searching for a better way do something, Joe developed a computer program in the 80’s that effectively kept track of brokerage yachts around the country and interfaced that information with a database of clients’ wants and needs. This computer system helped him to become one of the largest brokerages on the west coast of Florida and was further developed and shared with BUC International. The BUC listing system became the industry standard for over 15 years before Yachtworld took their place.
My Pledge to you:
My pledge to you is to advise you and never “sell” you. Although I’ve sold boats for 46 years, I never want to forget what it’s like to be a buyer or a seller. Buying or selling a boat can be a confusing and frustrating experience. What’s a good boat and what isn’t? What’s good price and what isn’t? With so many questions and so much miss-information, how do you make the right choice and who can you trust?
You will find my practical advice is sincere, sound and honest. My hope is to earn your trust, respect and business. My goal is to fulfill your dream whether it is to find the right boat or sell your current one.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. Now, I'd like to learn about you.
I invite you to contact me, better yet, come visit me at our floating office that we designed and built and also explore our Brokerage Display Center. Here he have a large selection of power and sailing yachts for you to consider. We are located in the beautiful Harborage Marine in charming downtown St Petersburg, Florida.
