Ted Hoods Irwin 43 is the perfect classic cruising boat. She has spacious decks with a great sail plan. The cockpit is safe and comfortable for those long passages.
The interior has incredible living space. The salon is immense with seating for 6 at the table and extra space on the starboard settee. The galley is a step down to a fully functioning propane stove and oven, large fridge and freezer and lots of storage. The forward berth and head are very comfortable for a couple or kids with its large bed, large head and lots of storage. The aft suite is massive with an island-style bed, ensuite head space and plenty of storage to make you comfortable for the weekend or a trip around the globe!
Accommodations
Last Star is a great cruising yacht with a spacious layout. She has two private staterooms, two heads with showers. A very roomy saloon, a good sized galley, a large Nav station area. The center cockpit layout provides a large aft stateroom with a center island queen sized bed. The mattress was custom make and is very comfortable. There is also a vanity station. Storage is plentifull. Lighting is LED and ventilation is provided by five ports (with screens), and two overhead hatches (one with shade/screen).
The Forward Stateroom:
The berth is split with a filler cushion and plenty of storage in lockers and on shelves.
The Forward Head:
Very large head compartment with large separate large shower.
The Main Saloon: The salon is very large with plenty of headroom. The dining table has room for 6. Large seating area on starboard side. There are blinds on the ports and covers on all hatches.
The Galley:
*New CoolBlue holding plate freezer/fridge system.
The Nav Station and Walk Through:
The walk-through to the aft stateroom is large and convenient. The outside has the chart table and all electrical panels and repeat navigation instruments. To the inside is access to the engine room.
The Aft Stateroom:
The aft stateroom is grand with a queen-size island-style bed. There is ample storage all around the bed and lots of opening ports.
The Aft Head:
The aft head is plumbed and ready for a new head. The shower is oversize with a bench seat.
Electrical Equipment:
*Shore power system with 50 Amp splitter, two 30 Amp sockets with cords.
*AC outlets throughout the yacht.
** All items below were installed new between 2021/2022:
*Bluesea breaker panel with DC and AC meters.
*Separate 12V battery bank (1,300 CCA) for Windlass and Bow Thruster.
*600 Ahr 12V LiFePO4 house bank (2 300AHr batteries).
*All DC wiring except overhead lighting is new.
*Dedicated 12V engine start battery with backup battery. Both in engine compartment.
*Victron MultiPlus 3000W/120Amp invertor/charger.
*Victron DC-DC 18Amp charger. Charges house bank from engine if solar is unavailable. (Engine
switch controlled).
*Victron ArgoFET 3 output. Charges engine and windlass battery banks from solar chargers.
*Victron 100V/50A solar chargers. Triple redundancy for house battery charging.
*Victron BMV-712 battery monitor.
*Victron Color Control System. Used to monitor/control all Victron devices listed above. All are
networked together.
*Victron Solid State Relay used to control water heater. Has separate On/Off switch in engine bay.
*Solar panels totaling 1,530 Watts of solar power. Two 425W panels on hard top, two 340W panels on
the solar arch.
*Dual 2000GPH bilge pumps, (one set above the other to act as main and Aux pumps). Both have LED
and alarms options that can be wired in.
*Custom built water usage monitor/display.
*Bullet M2 WiFi radio with PoE module. Great for picking up WiFi signals from shore when acnhored
out.
Electronics and Navigation:

In the cockpit;
*Raymarine 16” Axiom Pro MFD Display/charplotter with augmentation sensor.
*Raymarine i70 Engine gauge display (RPM, oil pressure, water temp).
*Raymarine i70 Wind speed / angle display.
*Raymarine p70 Auto Pilot control.
*Vetus Bow Thruster Joy Stick control.
*Raymarine AIS700 transceiver.
*Raymarine Quantum 2 radar.
*Raymarine CAM210 video camera system (mounted at the top of the mast).

*Standard Horizon GX1800 VHF radio with GPS, and remote Mic.
*Engine hour meter.

Engine and Mechanical Equipment:
*Yanmar 4JH-HTBE 66 HP Turbo with 2000 hours.
*All new hoses on engine cooling and exhaust.
*Dual fuel/water separator system.
*Cutlass bearing installed new in 2022.
*New brass/bronse prop, 18” by 17” pitch.
*Spare 3 blade feathering MaxProp. (Needs reassembly)
*Approximately 105 gal fuel tank.
*New spare fuel and oil filters.
*New fuel/water separator filters.
*New spare impellers.
*New spare engine starter.
*New spare engine water pump.
*New lower rudder shaft bushing. Replaced in 2022.
Sails & Rigging:
*Sloop rig, keel stepped mast. Mast and boom repainted in summer of 2022.
*In mast roller furling.
*All standing and running rigging was replaced with new in September 2022.
*140% Genoa inspected in 2021 and found in great shape.
*Main sail new in 2022 and never used.
*Spinnaker sail never used, still in bag (not new).
*Aluminum boom vang.
Deck and Hull:
*ICW friendly Wing Keel, 4'-11” draft.
*Hull sanded and repainted with two coats of epoxy hard bottom, plus two coats of ablative paint in
spring 2022.
*All stanchions and deck fittings rebedded in 2022.
*All hatches rebedded in 2021.
*Also includes is new in package seals for all hatches. Seal between frame and glass.
*All thru-hulls/seacocks/hose fittings, replaced with bronze, flange mounted seacocks in 2021.
*All hoses/tubing below the water line were replaced in 2021.
*Outboard engine hoist.
*Outboard motor mount on stern rail.
*Stainless steel swim ladder for swim platform.
*Deck Wash-down System. Bow mounted deck wash down system.
*New spreader lights with white and blue LED lighting.
*New steaming light, nav lights, and anchor/nav/strobe light on mast top.
Cockpit:
*Excellent custom designed cockpit hard top installed in 2021.
*Very comfortable center cockpit with seating for 6 – 8.
*Full enclosure with four windows/doors, plus screens for each.
*Pedestal steering with centralized instruments.
*Teak drink rack and pedestal mounted folding cockpit table.
*Tinted lexan companionway hatch and louvered drop boards.
*Four cockpit lockers.
Bow Thruster:
*The bow thruster was installed new in spring of 2022. It is a Vetus 75 model.
Windlass:
*Windlass was installed new in spring of 2022. It is a Lewmar V3 with chain counter option. It has 3/8
chain gypsy and rode capstan drum. Controlled with deck mounted foot switches, plus helm mounted
control switch.
Ground Tackle and Mooring Gear:
*Rocna 25 (55 lb) main anchor with 250 feet of 3/8” Grade 43 high test chain, with 200 feet of 3/4”
triple braid line.
*CQR 45 lb secondary anchor with 100 feet of 3/8” chain.
*Third backup anchor is 45 lb Bruce.
*Two 4 foot fender boards with four fenders. Also 4 – 6 other fenders.
*All dock lines are 3/4”, 25 FT, and 50 FT. There are two sets, one white, one black. So all four corners
can be double lined for added protection during storms.
*Also included is two anchor bridle sets. One set for normal conditions, one for “Oh sh#$ it's scary” conditions.
Safety Gear:
*Lifesling MOB system on stern rail.
*Flares and flare gun. New in 2018.
*Fire extinguishers: two forward, two aft, and one midship, plus automatic halon system in engine bay.
Water System:
*Port (~40 gal.) and Starbord (~110 gal.) tanks. Port tank has leak.
*Spectra Ventura 150T – 6 Gal/Hr water maker.
*Raritan 6 Gal. Water heater (12V), with hookup for engine heating.
*Pressurized H/C water system.
Forward head/shower and galley drain to a gray water pump system to above water thru-hull.
