About
145 Cheoy Lee 1996/2015, ISLAND HEIRESS
With over 150 years of ship and yacht construction and over 5000 vessels delivered, the quality and performance of Cheoy Lee Yachts are appreciated world-wide. Over 60 years ago, Cheoy Lee Shipyards pioneered the use of fiberglass composite construction for offshore yachts. ISLAND HEIRESS, a 145’ Cheoy Lee Trideck Motor Yacht, was launched in 1996 as part of Cheoy Lee’s Global Series, capable of passaging the world’s oceans.
ISLAND HEIRESS underwent a comprehensive refit from 2012 to completion in 2017, that included hull bottom modifications with prop tunnels and reinforced bow area to broaden her ocean navigation range to include any of the world’s oceans from Arctic ice to the shallow waters around the Bahamas. She was completely repowered with Caterpillar C32 1800hp Main engines and ZF transmissions She was completely repowered with Caterpillar C32 1800hp Main engines and ZF transmissions during the rebuild. The refit was supervised by Naval Architecture firm, Arthur Barbeito and Associates, Inc. of Miami, FL along with Marine Surveyors, Marc Slakoff and Associates, Inc. ISLAND HEIRESS’s ship-like, contemporary appearance belies her years and 145-ft length. Designed for long-range global cruising, her refit also modernized her electronics and systems to current state-of-the-art superyacht levels.
One such system is the new $250,000 Crestron AV system that powers the entertainment system throughout the ISLAND HEIRESS allowing all areas to view SAT TV (USA or GLA), KVH IP Mobile Cast, Apple TV, iPod, Navigation using TSAT (Touch Screen Automation Technology), and the cameras. All are remotely controlled via the Crestron app on iPads. The salon, sky lounge, and master suite feature surround sound systems with Crestron speakers discreetly located in overheads, while the five guest suites, captain’s suite, and crew lounge feature stereo audio through Crestron Swamp amplifiers and speakers. Speakers and subwoofers provide audio in the sundeck area, and a pair of speakers in the bow, forward pilothouse, main aft deck, and sky lounge provide audio entertainment. Video distribution is high definition 1080p in all locations. Crestron’s Swamp amplifier system is a fully scalable audio distribution system capable of delivering high-output audiophile sound quality to every area with less cabling and low power consumption.
The entire redesign and rebuild cost was nearly $7million, but to replace a yacht of this caliber styling, technology, equipment, construction, and passage capability would be $40,000,000 today, making ISLAND HEIRESS an excellent value in the world market.

Jeroen grew up in the Netherlands as part of a true boating family; for his family boating is a way of life. Jeroen’s family migrated to the U.S. back in 1980, where they have been building sport fishing yachts since 1993 under the name Garlington Landeweer. A Dutch family constructing traditional sport fishing yachts was not something that was typical for this industry.
Jeroen could not wait to step in those same footsteps, so after years of growing up spending his summer breaks on both a sport-fishing yacht in Florida & the Bahamas and a sailboat in the Mediterranean (Sardinia, Corsica, France, Italy, & Ballearics), Jeroen co-founded together with three of his family members, Chaser Yachts, where they specialize in building high-performance luxurious Dutch dayboats ranging about 50 feet.
After moving to the U.S. to grow the business stateside, Jeroen realized that a combination of representing the Chaser Yachts brand and brokering yachts was not just a perfect mix for him but added tremendous value to his clients through his expertise as not just a manufacturer of yachts but providing business to his resources in the industry as a broker too.
