JIM MCCONVILLE
Merle Wood & Associates is excited to introduce the newest addition to our team, Jim McConville, a distinguished veteran with an impressive 38-year career in the yachting industry. His wealth of expertise and experience places him among the elite brokers
worldwide.
Jim McConville’s journey in the yachting world began in a small Midwestern town near Chicago, where he developed a deep-rooted passion for boating during his summers. After completing his college education, Jim embarked on a new chapter in South Florida, laying the foundation for a remarkably successful career in the yachting industry. His initial foray involved selling offshore race boats back in 1985. However, Jim’s dedication to serving his clients led him to transition seamlessly into yacht sales as many of his customers sought larger vessels.
In 1988, Jim joined Allied Marine, consistently earning the title of brokerage “Salesman of the Year” for most of his tenure
with Allied. His commitment to client satisfaction and exceptional sales achievements remained unwavering at Allied.
Subsequently, from 2000 to 2008, Jim lent his expertise to IYC, where he continued to shine as the “Salesman of the Year.”
His journey came full circle as he returned to Allied Marine from 2008 to 2023.
Jim’s illustrious career is punctuated by several remarkable achievements. Jim sold the three largest yachts sold by Allied
Marine in its 74-year history, with the largest vessel measuring an impressive 221 feet and the most expensive
commanding a price exceeding $50 million. Moreover, Jim has sold 55 yachts over 100 feet in length.
Jim McConville’s unparalleled knowledge of the yachting industry, market values, unwavering honesty, customer loyalty,
post-sale follow-up, and a genuine love for the industry consistently inspires his clients to return for repeat transactions.
One of his clients has engaged Jim in over 15 boat transactions in the past 38 years, exceeding $100 million in sales.
Remarkably, in the past three years, 85% of Jim’s sales have come from repeat clients and referrals.
Jim stands as one of the few brokers globally who has achieved yacht sales exceeding $800 million, including an
astounding $163 million in 2023 alone. His exceptional negotiation skills, deep understanding of boats, market values,
yacht systems, commitment to quality construction, extensive marketing of his listings, and unparalleled ability to uncover
the best values for his clients truly set him apart.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim’s personal experiences on the water have been nothing short of extraordinary.
He has enjoyed yachting in various picturesque destinations, including the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the entire eastern
coastline from Key West to Maine, and the Mediterranean. Jim, together with his son, calls Fort Lauderdale home, where
they share the joy of boating aboard their 37’ Boston Whaler. Notably, Jim has also owned a 75’ Hatteras, which served as his
personal yacht, granting him an invaluable perspective on yacht ownership few brokers can match.
Jim McConville’s dedication to his clients and his unparalleled yacht industry expertise make him a valuable addition to the
Merle Wood & Associates team. We are excited to welcome him aboard and look forward to the exceptional contributions
he will bring to our esteemed clientele.
