Description
This 2005 Luux 6.30 sailboat is cold molded with fiberglass covering mahogany strip planking. The result is a very strong hull with the ease of owning a fiberglass boat. As the mahogany is covered by fiberglass, it does not absorb water as does a typical wooden vessel, thereby reducing the weight of the boat. This vessel is 20’8” in length; the beam is 8’4”; the boat draws 1 foot with the centerboard up and 8 feet with the board down. The centerboard is powered from the battery and can be retracted in 5 to 7 seconds. The mast is tall with Bergstrom rigging (no backstay) which is simpler and allows for a larger mainsail. The hull is unsubmersable (certification completed) and can sleep four people in the cabin (it is however not a large interior).
The sail inventory includes a fully battened mainsail, roller furling genoa and asymmetrical spinnaker.
Auxiliary power is provided by a new Mercury Four Stroke outboard producing 4 HP..
In 2018, the centerboard was removed and replaced with a new SAILTEC hydraulic centerboard system. In 2019, electrical systems were overhauled including the installation of new battery switches, fuses, bilge pump and a hydraulic power pack with controls (for the centerboard system). In addition, the deck was painted in 2019, rudder bracket fastenings were resealed, a keel lock was designed, fabricated and installed, a mast cradle was designed and assembled, topsides and boot top were refinished, all the wood was varnished and a new tiller extension was installed. In 2020 a guide for the centerboard hydraulic system was fabricated. Upgrades to the trailer were made at that time as well. The hull, centerboard and rudders have been freshly bottom coated for the 2024 season.
The electronics only include a compass and depth finder, although the boat is wired for an autopilot. The seller has used a handheld GPS.
A trailer is included with the boat, as is a custom cover.
This sailboat is in turn-key condition and is ready for the 2024 sailing season!
