Bruce was born and raised on the West Coast between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Living in Grenada in his late teens may have contributed to a passion for the ocean, sailing and the tropics... it's hard to say but he never really left the sea after that. Captaining charter boats in the Caribbean, whale watching boat in Santa Barbara, and multiple off shore deliveries finally brought him to Sag Harbor. He started Tait Yachts in 1982 as a family run brokerage firm; his daughter joined the firm in 1989 and now heads up the charter division. Yacht sales, commissioning and management projects have sent him to locales around the globe. His energetic, "hands on" attitude has solidified long term client relations and inter industry friendships along the way. Bruce loves ocean and inshore yacht racing and has competed in Antigua Race weeks, the Marion and Newport-Bermuda race, Block Island Race Weeks, Heineken Regattas and Les Voile de St. Tropez. He races his J70 every week in the summer and competes in most area regattas.
