Description
During the 1980’s and early 1990’s this diesel model Bayliner, the 3870, was very successful. Over 1000 of these boats were manufactured during that 10 year period. This model was known as an affordable and comfortable diesel cruiser with two staterooms, two heads and one shower/tub. Gemini is a 2 owner vessel. From 1987 until the end of 2022 this vessel was protected overhead in two different marinas in the Morehead City area. The second owners have owned Gemini for 24 years and have a diver go down and clean the bottom every month and replace zincs as needed. Gemini is ready to be enjoyed without any urgent renovations. You can relax and entertain on the bow cushion in front, the open deck in the transom, the spacious salon inside or up in the flybridge. The lights throughout inside or outside have been changed to LED.

Vessel Walkthrough
Access points to board Gemini are via the swim platform and transom door or over the gunwale on either side of the back deck. You can see the steps in the photos. There is only one door onboard that goes into the salon from the back deck. To access the bow area one can walk on either the port or starboard side. There is a six step ladder in the back deck to access the Flybridge. The main helm is in the Flybridge with plenty of seating and good visibility.
As you go through the door you first see the wrap around table that can be lowered for more sleeping space. The inside helm is on the starboard side. The current owner removed the steering wheel inside as there was not adequate visibility to handle the boat safely. Then you take a couple steps down to access the galley on the starboard side. The photos show the layout.
The Master cabin is in the bow section and is quite spacious with good closets and storage. The Master cabin has its own bathroom and sink. In between the Master and smaller cabin on the port side is a tub/shower combo that has two doors and can be accessed from either cabin. The smaller cabin has a comfortable bed and storage. Both cabins can be closed.

Engine Details and Mechanical Equipment:
Hino EH700 diesel engines at 175 horsepower. Total hours are close to 1,500 hours. The original boat did not have hour meters on the engines. The second owner installed hour meters and the best guess is that there are 1,500 hours on both engines. The engines can be accessed by the following: drop down door in salon floor; 2 hatch doors in the back deck; door on left side of the cabin that also gives access to the batteries.
There is a 8.5 KW Westerbeke generator that cranks over but does not start. The owner recently had a couple of different mechanics look at the generator but they were unsuccessful in locating the issue.
Extra set of props.

I am currently living in Newport, North Carolina with my wife Cindy. We came to Newport with our three sons 12 years ago to work with the company True World Marine that had relocated to Beaufort, NC. I began my employment with True World Marine in 2002 as Human Resources Manager and new boat sales. During my employment until the company closed in 2015, I attended numerous boat shows along the East Coast from New York to Miami as part of the sales team. While working in that environment I gained an insight into the vast array of leisure and fishing vessels that are available for those who love the water. Whether you sail, fish, or just pleasure cruise I can assist you in finding the boat that fits your lifestyle; or I will help you sell your boat.
I grew up loving the water from a young age, being born in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. Water sports were part of my early childhood. Our family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when I was 7 years old and the ocean became my playground. I know the love of the open water and the desire to access the beauty and treasure afforded to those with a ship to sail. Some of my greatest enjoyment on the water has been catching giant blue fin tuna on Stellwagen Banks out of Gloucester Harbor and landing large, giant halibut in Kodiak Alaska. Many fishing stories to tell.
My life journey has taken me many places around the world. First stop was Vietnam in the Army then Colombia, Mexico, stops in Brazil, Uruguay and Russia to name a few. My journey took me to South Korea, together with my wife, to work for a newspaper as an assistant to the president of the company for English speaking guests and dignitaries.
I worked in international communications for 13 years. During those years I came to understand that we are all pretty much the same as to what we want and expect in a relationship, that being fairness and honesty. I apply those ethics to my approach in all communications and aspects of the sale.
Whether you are interested in listing your boat or you are looking for a boat to get you out on the water, let’s work together to achieve your goal.
