If you are looking for a really sturdy well constructed cruising boat easily handled by one or two persons and equipped with everything you will need to live comfortably autonomously and make long distance offshore passages safely .Charis is a great choice.
Designed by George Stadel Jnr and Built in Taiwan using high quality teak and superb craftsmanship .
The ketch rig is easily handled from the cockpit and has a power winch to handle halyards and other control lines.
The cockpit is protected from the sun and the weather by a spray dodger and Bimini top.
Furling headsail allows for ease of handling.
The teak deck is in very good condition and shown no signs of leaking and lots of life left in it.
There are no soft spots on the deck so no worries there.
The interior is loaded with great teak work and has stood the test of time well.
She sports a lovely ensuite aft cabin with a bathtub in the head.
She comes fully equipped including cooking utensils, crockery cutlery etc
In fact eveything you will requie to just move aboard and go cruising in comfort and safety .
Fridge , freezer, water maker , diesel generator, auto pilot, microwave oven, toaster, Cooker 4 burner with oven.
Electric heads
The wind and solar power handles all the power requurements
without having to use the generator.
She comes fully equipped with electronics and safety equipment including VHF, SSB, AIS , EPIRB, Viking 6 person liferaft ( needs servicing )
RIB dinghy and outboard on davits .
The Doyle dacron sails are in great condition.
The 85 HP Perkins diesel engine starts first try and these commercial type diesels will run forever once serviced regularly , no big set of electronics on her to go wrong or cause her to not work .
The 3 blade prop pushes her along at hull speed when required and only revs to 1800 and cruises at 1200 RPM.so is very economical and unstressed at that low RPM.
The standing and running rigging and all in good condition.
The present owner is only the third one, the second woner sailed her round the world , and this owner has owned her for 16 years and sailed her offshore between MD and the Caribbean several times with no issues at all.
He say she sails beautifully and is gteat in ,light airs as well.
