OTHER DETAILS
Overview
The Summit 54 stands out for her performance, quality of construction and incredible use of open spaces. Equipped with a large, open galley, a covered aft deck, a spacious saloon that flows to the helm station, owners and guests alike will have plenty of room to socialize. The outdoor spaces are equally pleasing with oversized lounges on the flybridge and foredeck. The Summit brings everyone together in a way that most boats cannot. She is the ultimate cruising and entertainment platform.
The Summit is also a luxurious vacation home with a full beam master that includes separate WC and shower, his and her lockers, tons of storage and a full-size queen. She has a third stateroom for crew or additional guests, full laundry and a VIP stateroom forward with a luxurious ensuite head and shower.
With the incredible hull form and construction, powered by Cummins QSB6.7 engines coupled with straight shaft drives in half tunnel pockets, the Summit can cruise for 400nm at 20kts and draws less than 4 feet. Her doubled insulation keeps her super quiet and her SeaKeeper keeps everyone on board comfortable in a wider weather window than any other yacht her size. Whether you choose a season in New England or the Bahamas, or a sunset cruise with friends and family, every amenity has been carefully crafted to a level that only 50 years of boat building can provide.
Vessel Walk Through
Getting aboard East by South is a breeze through the large full cockpit boarding doors in the cockpit. In addition to the doors there is a railing break to port and starboard around the helm door. Starting from the large swim platform you have access to a large storage garage for toys, supplies, lines and fenders. In addition the garage also stores the built in grill that will hide away when not in use.
Entering the cockpit from the swim platform can be done to port or starboard. The cockpit hosts a u shaped dinette with custom fabrics and table (Seating for 4 to 6). Forward of the settee against the aft bulkhead sits a bar with two built in stools. This is incredibly nice when you open up the aft window and doors to create a large entertainment area between the galley and the cockpit. As you step into the boat you enter into the full service galley to port and a two person dinette in the galley. Stepping up two steps to the help deck will bring you to a large u-shaped dining table. To starboard you have some bottle storage and drawers with a pop TV behind the storage.
Lower helm is located to starboard with a full door for easy access in and out. Visibility throughout is better than most boats!
Entering the lower accommodation is forward of the dinette to port. As you enter the lower accommodations the first thing you will notice is the ample headroom, openness and natural light. Aft of the landing you will enter the full beam master with walk around queen, en suite head and separate shower. A settee has been added and there is ample storage space throughout the cabin.
The VIP is located forward and hosts an island queen with ensuite head and separate shower. Two hanging lockers and several drawers.
The third cabin in the boat has been completely customized so the owners could bring a first mate with them to help with the boat chores. A wet head and shower has been installed with a single berth and washer and dryer. This cabin closes off with nice pocket doors.
On the exterior you will find very wide side decks with oversized and over build hand rails. This boat has been upgraded with teak decks all around the walk ways. On the foredeck you will find a double bench seat for enjoying the view from up front. Aft of the seat is a double lounge with the optional cover for shade.
And the best part is saved for last. The flybridge is accessed through the cockpit. Storage is located under the stairs going to the bridge. The bridge is massive and hosts two Stidd seats, seating and table for 8 and a great lounge area forward of the helm. A beverage fridge has been installed on the bridge. The bridge is covered with a factory hard top. Aft of the bridge on the boat deck is where the dingy lives when not in use. A steelhead davit/crane is mounted here as well for deploying and retrieving your tender.
This is a must see boat, the wood work on the interior is extensive and has been upgraded significantly from the standard boat. The walnut wood throughout has been done in high gloss and the floors are done in Amtico.
This boat is in new condition, avoid the 2 year wait and save well over $500K on the price of a new order.
Galley & Aft Deck
Galley
The Summit 54 galley has a large prep area to port with an electric appliance "garage" that raises up from the counter to reveal additional storage for coffee makers, toasters, and other supplies. There is an induction cooktop and fitted under the countertops are 4 drawers of refrigeration / freezer units, and a convection microwave oven. Looking forward, you'll find overhead cabinets and a large sink. There is a built-in settee dinette with a table to starboard. Electrical
The heart of EAST by SOUTH's cutting edge electrical system is the C-Zone Dynamic Digital Switching, Monitoring and Control system. There are two Czone access points with the main panel on the bridge and a second panel in the Master Stateroom. With User-configurable modes such as "At Anchor" "Underway Day" or "Owner Away" the vessel can be configured for operations to the most minute detail. Additionally, systems such as charging, tankage, electrical loads and faults can be monitored and history recorded, even from the master stateroom panel. This is truly a next generation level of control and redundancy.
The AC power system is managed by Czone and powered by the inverters. AC power is fed from either shorepower or generator via Czone to the inverters which then supply all AC power needs on board the vessel. For continuous AC power away from the dock not underway, one of the 9kW generators can be run which will handle most electrical loads. At the peak of use, when demands are high, the inverters will ‘power assist’ with input from the lithium ion batteries and increase AC power output. This hybrid type setup avoids having an oversized generator that will not be loaded properly most of the time, thus avoiding premature generator failure.
The lithium ion service batteries also have one of the vessel’s 200 amp/24V Mastervolt alternators dedicated for charging when underway. When away from the dock and not running engines or generator, the lithium ion batteries can be discharged up to 80% giving a total battery output of nearly 8800 Watt-Hours before needing to recharge. When it is time to recharge, the 2 inverter/chargers have a combined max output of 200 amps, making charging time short.
East by South has upgraded the single Northern Lights 12KW Gen to twin 9KW Gensets for redundency.
Batteries and inverter/charging specs:
- Engine batteries: 2 banks of 2 each: Mastervolt AGM GROUP 31, 12V, 90Ah, wired in series for 24V

Flybridge
The Flybridge access is a wide and secure stairway leading from the aft deck. The combined length of the flybridge and boat deck are nearly 2/3 of the length of the boat! There is a very well-equipped helm and twin STIDD® helm seats.
Forward of the helm is a luxurious seating /lounge area large enough for 3-4 adults. This is one of the best seats in the house to relax; the area is protected from the wind by the tinted Plexiglass windscreen, as well as overhead, by the hardtop which covers the entire bridge area.
To Port is a comfortable L-shaped lounge settee with seating for 8+, a teak table that also expands out in size and a flybridge Isotherm® refrigerator.
Further aft is the Steelhead® davit and tender storage with the 2020 AB 11ALX tender with 25hp Yamaha outboard.
The entire bridge area, from the helm and all the lounge seating and refrigerator have custom Sunbrella fitted mooring covers.
Foredeck
In addition to the robust anchoring systems and storage lockers, the forward deck of the Summit 54 has a giant sunpad/lounge area with a custom bimini cover and an additional bench/lounge on the forward deck. Engine Spaces
Any owner will proudly show off the engine room on the Summit 54. Located beneath the galley and cockpit, the engine room provides generous spaces for inspection and the ability to work in a well-organized space. Remember that this yacht was built by Kadey Krogen, so access is very important, unlike production boats that place components below with no thought as to how they will be maintained and serviced. This is a boat built for a true yachtsman.
The lazarette area offers storage, but it is also a central hub of the boat's entire electrical system, including the Northern Lights generators. Everything is laid out intuitively, so it is easy to understand, to diagnose, and to access any component that requires servicing.
Custom Styling
East By South's fully customized interior was a collaboration between the owners and The Kadey Krogen Group’s Interior Designer to achieve classic style with a relaxed, calming vibe. The look was achieved using designer fabrics and wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries, Thibaut, Giatti, Kravet and Schumacher. Interior soft good components like the custom pillows and draperies produced by our South Florida workroom, Matouk Linens, and whitewashed beachy raffia wall panels punctuate the high-end designer feel, making East By South's interior truly one of a kind.
