OTHER DETAILS
Construction
Hull and superstructure made from high-grade female tooling. Hull construction includes use of USA-made, Cook® gel coat. Hand-laid Knytex (in combination with mat and Corecell®) is utilized above waterline and solid fiberglass lamination below the waterline with blister-resistant vinylester resins utilized on first laminates. Stem and stern bottom areas are aramid fiber/FRP reinforced.
Superstructure construction includes Knytex® and mat in combination with Corecell® cores and surface mats for print-through reduction.
There are teak aft and side decks. Boat and fore decks have GripTex® non-skid finish. Bulwark has molded plank lines with gel coat finish.
Polyurethane formulated marine sealants were used at hull-to-deck, boat deck joints and exterior fittings. Bulkheads are marine grade plywood and additional hull strength is achieved with molded fiberglass hat section stringers.
The interior is finished with handcrafted solid cherry and veneers.
Saloon
The spacious Saloon is entered from the large teak covered aft deck up two steps and through a large stainless and glass sliding door. To port is a comfortable L-shaped settee with storage below and a cherry hi-lo table that folds out to twice its size. The table can be used either as a coffee table or large dining table seating up to 8 people. The settee also converts to an extra sleeping area. To starboard there are two comfortable Stressless (TM) leather chairs. Forward of this area is the 86" Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer. Opposite to port is a large gourmet galley. With two huge windows to port and starboard and a large window and the glass doors to the stern and a view through the pilothouse and the windshield you will see why this model is called the Open. You have 360 degree views outside the boat.
Galley
The Galley is to port and forward in the saloon. It features a Wolf 30" propane stove and oven surrounded by large Cambria custom counters. There is also a Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer, GE trash compactor and GE dishwasher. There is a large appliance garage that powers up out of the counter to the left of the Wolf. To the right is a smaller one perfect for storage of small galley items. A cherry and spruce floor keep the galley bright and give it a warm feel. Forward of the galley is a bulkhead with a retractable wall to separate the galley from the pilothouse. In the down position you have an open field of view forward into the pilothouse and out the forward windows. At the push of a button a wall powers up with a 55" TV mounted on it for entertainment of both saloon and galley.
Major components in the galley include:
- Sub Zero Bl-30U/S refrigerator and freezer
- Wolf propane range/oven
- GE 30" microwave oven
- GE Trash compactor
- Perlick Signature Series wine refrigerator
- GE Dishwasher
- Sea Gull water filtration w/ dedicated faucet for sink and plumbed to ice maker in Sub Zero
Pilothouse and Electronics
The Pilothouse is up just one step from the saloon and galley and is truly the center of activity when underway. A Llebroc helm chair with flip up bolster keeps the captain comfortable underway. An Ultraleather L-shaped settee with storage at the end is behind the helm. With its mounted pedestal table it is the perfect place for a relaxing dinner or even for a second office space. This settee also converts to a double watch berth if needed. A custom designed seat allows the mate to sit near the captain underway. There is storage to starboard of the settee under the staircase to the flybridge. Welded aluminum Dutch doors port and starboard allow for easy access to all decks. Stepping out of the pilothouse doors lead to the Portuguese bridge deck. There are ship's control stations on both port and starboard corners of the Portuguese bridge making docking in any location easy. There are doors leading thru the Portuguese bridge to the bow where there is a bench seat to watch the world go by.

Captain Bill Harris was fortunate growing up to spend half the year on a farm in Monkton, Maryland, and the other half at a house on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Here on the Bay he found his true love of boating that has only grown over the years. About the time Bill graduated from college he found himself volunteering to help Dennis and Joyce Maud commission their third Krogen, a 42'. While doing this he developed his love of the Krogen trawler yacht. Right off he recognized the quality inherently built into the boat and when he was offered a chance to sell them he jumped at the opportunity. Later he and his wife, Tracie, bought their own Krogen and lived aboard for six years on the Chesapeake. After being liveaboards for over 12 years, the Harrises moved to Florida to work out of the Stuart office and live ashore now. Still, they look forward to their next Krogen and being able to explore like the vessels are built to do.
