"A $400,000 +, extensive refit with ‘big ticket’ improvements...Since 2015, over 60 new components (including new mechanical and electrical pumps, motors, compasses, watermaker, washer/dryer, icemaker, Yamaha 40Hp outboard motor) have been installed plus a new Quantum mainsail, and Sunbrella bimini, dodger, dinghy cover and main sail cover."
Construction
The Oyster 62 is one of the company's popular "Deck Saloon" performance voyagers. Preserved in the 62 are design tenets that go to the core of what Oyster is all about: volume, comfort, a sailor's aggressive rig and a hull intended to be as seakindly and responsive as it is rock solid and elegant.
As a company, Oyster maintains an exceptional handle on quality control. Alhambra’s bulletproof hull is GRP solid laminate with structural stringers and floors to Lloyds-approved design specifications with a high performance bulb (HPB) keel and full skeg protecting the skeg-hung rudder.
The 62 displaces a brawny 70,000 pounds and you can feel it as she's running down seas and burrowing into them. The deck saloon arrangement has the added benefit of raising the saloon sole to let tankage and batteries sit nearer the yacht’s center of gravity, which, according to Oyster, dampens the hull’s tendency to pitch in head seas.
The stern design incorporates a bathing platform trimmed with teak slats and stainless steel steps for access to the stern deck. The hull color is white, with cove and double boot top lines in green.
Below the waterline, the shoal draft keel draws a mere 6'7" and opens the door to sailing the shallow waters of the Bahamas, Florida, parts of the Caribbean and the Pacific that other yachts in this size range could only dream of exploring.

Accommodations
WALK-THROUGH
The interior layout aboard Alhambra includes a full-width deck saloon as you enter from the central cockpit, with a large oval settee and dinette to starboard, and casual seating plus the nav station and communications center to port. The design is warm, bright and airy, enhanced by the copious amount of light admitted through the saloon's large windows and by the elegantly crafted teak joinery. The panoramic views from the broad windows on three sides of the saloon making dining at the sprawling table a joy that no number of 12-by-4 inch ports can provide.
There is a crew cabin in the forepeak with two single berths. Just aft, there are two forward guest staterooms to port and starboard, each with ensuite heads with separate showers. The port head also serves as a convenient day head. Just aft of the dinette on the starboard side, there is a fifth double stateroom with over-and-under twin bunks.
Aft and down two steps, a walk-through galley-cum-passageway on the port side takes you into the owner's suite in the stern. This is a true master stateroom, wonderfully spacious with its own vanity/office niche, spacious head and shower and private egress to the fantail.

Sails and Rigging
The 62 has exceptional sailing manners for a big cruising boat. She is safe and comfortable when underway, fast enough to minimize passage time and able to go to weather with proficiency. Her sail handling systems are sturdy, simple and easy to manage when short-handed. Despite her heft, she responds well to the helm and tracks well on all points of sail. Her cockpit, deck arrangement and sail handling setup are exceptionally cruiser-friendly.
Designed for short-handed sailing, Alhambra features a hydraulic Leisure Furl in-boom furling system that both maximizes performance and allows for ease of handling and stowage. Together, Reckmann hydraulic headsail furlers and hydraulic and electric winches offer a virtually push-button sailing experience. The 62 fits perfectly into the sweet spot of being simple to run by a short-handed couple, but equally has the interior volume to accommodate a full time Captain and crew as needed. Alhambra is fast as well as being safe and comfortable. In cruising trim, she can easily sail a 200 miles per day.

The foredeck is nearly flush, the bow wide open and the side decks clear.
