Walkthrough
Third Child is a 48AE widebody two stateroom, two full head model which sleeps eight when you utilize the convertible berth in the pilothouse and convertible settee in the salon for occasional guests.
Boarding any Kadey-Krogen AE is made easy by the ergonomic step-through boarding doors located both port and starboard in the cockpit. There is an additional boarding gate in the transom leading to the swim platform, as well as two boarding gates just aft of the foredeck.
The cockpit of the Krogen 48AE is enormous. Our signature fully-covered cockpit, which many owners refer to this area as their "back porch", greatly extends the living from cockpit to saloon by opening the Diamond Seaglaze welded aluminum, storm proof double doors. The expanse of living is truly unmatched and where you spend much quality time.
Entering the salon, you will be welcomed by a warm social space designed for entertainment and living. Sharing time with each other, friends, enjoying an epicurean's delight at the table, or maybe even catching a game together on the pop-up TV.
To port are two Hancock Moore chairs and to starboard is a large settee with a large table that converts from a coffee table to dinner table comfortably seating six and of course a large screen hi-def TV on a lift system. The settee also converts to a queen sized berth for additional sleeping accommodations. Custom window treatments round out this space. Storage is a must and particular attention was given to both bulk drop-down storage, as well as easy access drawers and cabinets.
The galley - what's not to love? All galley equipment of premium brand, including a Bluestar commercial range. You find the space both functional, with custom-sized drawers made to accommodate a multitude of kitchen ware, but also beautiful with custom tile and countertops. Across from the galley is a china cabinet and buffet area alongside a built-in wine refrigerator and four extra deep drawers for galley storage.
Proceeding down to the living quarters, to starboard is the guest stateroom/office of Third Child. The desk was slightly enlarged to accommodate file sized locking drawers for keeping your important records neatly organized and private. This space also has a large double door hanging locker and numerous drawers to help your guests feel right at home.
Across from the guest stateroom is the guest head, the stall shower has a glass door and inboard of that is a full-sized separate washer and dryer.
Forward is the owner suite, with a full queen-sized berth with orthopedic mattress, dual seating, dual hanging lockers, en-suite head and separate shower and large chest of drawers. The berth is on gas struts and easily lifts to reveal a commodious locker. Ventilation is superb, provided so by two Lewmar Ocean Series deck hatches, fitted with Oceanair duo-screens and four opening portlights.
The pilothouse is up from the galley. The L-shape pilothouse settee (with lots of storage underneath) pulls out to make into a double berth, should the need arise. A large hi-low settee table is perfect for working, or enjoying a light meal. Much thought was given to the navigational electronics and controls layouts – see the detailed list under electronics.
Stepping through the Diamond Seaglaze weatherproof dutch doors leads out to the foredeck area. At the front of the pilothouse is a bench seat - an ideal place to enjoy a well-deserved glass of wine after setting the anchor and soaking in your new surroundings. There's storage beneath that seating area - and take note of the separate anchor locker up forward, sealed off with that aluminum commercial powder-coated deck hatch leading to a collision bulkhead.
Moving aft on the port side are molded fiberglass stairs leading up to the boatdeck/flybridge areas. On Next Dance, you've got a summer kitchen equipped with a BBQ - add table and chairs for alfresco dining. Take a single step up, brings you to the flybridge deck with L-settee, upper helm and two helm chairs.

Tucker grew up on the water in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and as a kid spent his summers sailing and water skiing, and throughout high school and college driving the launches and working at the Newport Yacht Club. Tucker entered the marine industry after graduating from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire with a degree in business management. His primary focus throughout the years has been in sales, marketing, and after-sales service. He began his career at Sunsail Yacht Charters, booking sailing vacations and selling boats into Sunsail's charter fleet. After spending a year in Thailand with Sunsail, he returned to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and spent the next seven years with The Catamaran Company. Most recently, his work leading the North American Sales and Dealers Network for Grand Banks Yachts earned respect among his peers and cemented his passion for the cruising segment of the powerboat industry.
