Description
“Elegance, Spacious, and High Performance,” that’s how Hunter accurately described the 1984 Hunter 40 Legend also referred to as a 40-1. It really is a well-designed fast cruiser with a very livable interior. It features a wide open workable deck, a large cockpit, and two private staterooms with their own head. The Hunter Design Group, led in this case by Cortland Steck, created one of the best aft stateroom berths in an aft cockpit sailboat! Stowage is plentiful without creating claustrophobia, all while maintaining a perfect balance of beautiful wood and easily maintained finished fiberglass interior surfaces.
You’ll notice the great-looking lines as you walk up, and be surprised by how open it feels down below! It sails very well and motors great.

Nick has always been a fan of all things nautical! When his wife planned a surprise sunset sail for his 30th birthday he had no idea just how much he would fall in love with sailboats and being on the water. With a degree in mechanical engineering, Nick used his expertise to begin researching the perfect boat to start his sailing adventures. Since then (4 boats later) he finally has a gorgeous liveaboard sailboat that he sadly only gets to enjoy part time as he travels frequently between the Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina markets.
Nick has over 20 years of experience in boating that began with driving a boat for the fire department for the search and rescue squad. From there he obtained his PADI certification as Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) in 2019, and has since earned his Captain’s license. He has assisted several friends as additional crew while transporting their boats, has spent countless hours over the course of several years researching sailboats for his personal purchases, and is always there to answer questions whenever someone needs a hand for their boat!
Research is Nick’s super power! When it comes to finding the absolute right fit for someone whether it’s a vacation (he owns a travel agency too!), car, boat or basically anything hobby worthy he is your man. Rest assured he will make sure that no stone is left unturned when it comes to taking care of his clients. His commitment to exceeding his clients expectations is what has earned him repeat business year after year.
He is an admitted YouTube sailing channel junkie, lover of all things rum, and in his spare time is always on the lookout for a good boat, car, or destination for his next adventure. Nick’s main focus is to ensure that his clients meet their goals. Whether you’re looking to buy or sell he will manage every step effectively and make sure that his clients have fun in the process! After all, you can’t buy happiness but you can buy a boat…and that’s pretty much the same thing.
