2002 Catana 58' (17.91 m)
Porto Heli
Blue Moon
Huge Price Reduction. Vessel is in good condition and owner will consider all serious offers. Great opportunity! 2002 Catana 581 "BLUE MOON" is returning to the market after the owner has spent 9 beautiful years with her almost all around the world. For those rare catamaran lovers who were not introduced to this model, this Catana's 58 has set and still is a benchmark for all modern performance cruising catamarans. Cruising at speeds between 10-14 knots under sails (she recorded 24 knots if someone needs that information), and 9-11 knots under power with extra low fuel consumption due to her efficient performance hulls makes her a dream for long-distance cruising. She is definitely one of the safest catamarans to be on in rough waters. The hull and deck are fiberglass laminate set in vinylester resin vacuum-bagged over a Divinycell PVC foam core. The hull has an inner skin of Twaron aramid fabric laminated over the core to increase stiffness and impact resistance. The deck joint is bonded then glassed over to form a monocoque structure. The only solid laminate is in areas where hardware is mounted. All furniture components and floor sections are also cored with Divinycell foam; the internal bulkheads21 in allare laid up with Nida-Core honeycomb coring. She is a 3 cabin owner's version with a starboard hull dedicated to the owner's private space and an additional skipper's cabin in the starboard hull with fore part access. She comes completely turn-key ready and is currently cruising in Greece. Contact us for her exact location if you'd like to visit her. She comes with a major refit and is fully kitted with an enormous list of brand new equipment. Let me mention just a few more notable ones: New Yanmar 110hp engines with around 200 engine working hours new 11kw Onan generator new air condition unit a new set of sails Spectra water maker new B&G electronics new Lithium pack of batteries new C-zone digital control and monitoring network new teak deck And the list goes on and on! In Charleston, South Carolina, The Multihull Company President and CEO Captain Will Miller assists our clients in any sail training they may require. Will is a seasoned sailor who also owns and operates the successful Charleston Sailing School at Charleston City Marina. From this location, he brokers the sale of multihulls for The Multihull Company and monohulls for 5 Oceans Marine Group. When the need arises, he teaches many of our clients the finer points of catamaran handling and voyaging.
Will grew up in Virginia and learned to sail in the Chesapeake Bay. He has lived in Charleston since 2001 and knows the city well. Throughout his life Will’s parents have owned a variety of sail, ski, and fishing boats in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, the Carolinas, and the Caribbean. Family vacations included chartering in the Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, the Bahamas and Jamaica. Will developed a love of the water at a very young age and chose to pursue a career as a captain after graduating from the College of Charleston in 2005. As a lifelong sailor Captain Will has traveled extensively throughout the waters of the United States and Caribbean. He has been a certified sailing instructor and licensed US Coast Guard Captain since 2006. While attending the College of Charleston Will worked at the Charleston City Marina. Post college graduation he lived and worked in Negril, Jamaica where his family owns and operates a restaurant, fuel dock, fishing, and sailing charters. Shortly after his return to Charleston, Will began working for the sailing school and 5 Oceans Marine Group as an Associate Broker before eventually taking over the helm at TMC from his close friend and confidant, our Founder, Phillip Berman.
As the world’s largest truly global brokerage company specializing in multihulls, The Multihull Company is ready to assist you if you wish to buy or sell any type of yacht in the Carolinas, or anywhere on the East Coast of the United States.
