Description
BRAND NEW LISTING - CLASSIC IP CRUISER - BEST 31 YOU WILL SEE - SUPER MAINTAINED - AIR CONDITIONING
The Island Packet '83-'88 31 is the most popular design that IP manufactured. It featured a solid glass hull with integral Full Foil Keel, bow sprit and a spade rudder. The Packets were beamy with flatter bottoms that gave them more Initial Stability and with more ballast laid in the "Full Foil Keel" their Ultimate Stability was higher and add to that an easily reefed Cutter Rig and the Packets were comfortable in most anything MOTHER Nature could throw at them. Also, their decks were synthetically cored and their masts were Keel-Stepped. Down below: they had the room and the storage for cruising, a table that stored easily out of the way when not used and a Yanmar Diesel that was as reliable as the sails. After almost 4 decades, the 31 is still a sought after yacht that will take you where you want to go safely and comfortably.
"El Bo Room" is a very well maintained example of this classic Bob Johnson designed cruiser!!!

Accommodations and Walkthru
Beginning at the bow, there is an Anchor Locker accessed through the Vee Berth. It is large enough to hold and divide two complete Anchors and their Rodes, chain and rope. The locker drains overboard.
The large Vee Berth follows aft. It is very comfortable with a large opening hatch and an opening port, a 12V 3-speed Fan plus a couple of reading lights. It is light and Airy. There is lots of storage with a cabinet/Hanging Locker on port side of entry, shelves along the hull side and two additional cabinets under the berth.
A good sized private Head is on starboard side of entry featuring a separate Vee Berth Entry plus a sink, full sized commode and shower. There is plenty of storage both under and over the counter. A teak towel holder and mirror are convenient.
The Main Saloon follows aft with an "L" shaped settee on starboard that easily converts to a double berth. The Dining Table stores up-against the bulkhead when not in use. You can easily feed a crew of seven utilizing the straight settee on port which is long enough for napping. The saloon is light and airy with 5 opening ports, a large opening hatch plus 4 reading lights.
A "U" shaped Galley is next aft on port with refrigerator, 2-burner Stove/Oven, a double sink, plus lots of storage including a large dry storage bin.
The Quarterberth is aft on starboard that is cleverly designed with an accordion door and a chart table that folds up into desk position and up again to create a private sleeping area or a place to hide your stuff. There are two ports and a hatch for good ventillation
The on-center Companionway leads to the Cockpit with its long, facing settees that provide the comfortable room for sailing, entertaining and sleeping under the stars.
"El Bo Room" is the best cared for 31 I have seen in a long time. If you are looking for a "BIG" safe and comfortable cruiser that is ready to go you owe it yourself to see this exceptional cruiser.

I have been lucky to be near the water all my life. As a kid, I fished and waterskied on Rehoboth Bay, and as a teenager I learned to sail a Sunfish on the Chesapeake off Howell Point. I became a Sea Explorer and was introduced to both sailboat racing and cruising. I later joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary teaching sailing in Wilmington and Newark, Delaware. I have raced and cruised and made yacht deliveries up and down the East Coast. My time on the water has always been very important to me.
After college, a stint in the Air Force, a period of public service, bicycle racing and ownership of the Admore Bike Shop, I joined the marine industry in 1988. Initially, I sold Hunters, Catalinas, and Morgans before moving with my wife, Janet, in 1994 to Rock Hall, Maryland, to join Gratitude Yachting Center and then, in 2013, S&J Yachts. I have been selling yachts for a quarter of a century. With these 25 years of experience, I can help you make the very best yacht selection – matching your plans and dreams to your new sail or power yacht.
