Matthew Hedrick grew up on a farm in Raleigh, North Carolina. He learned to sail at Camp Seagull, an experience that ignited his lifelong passion for the water. Matthew attended Lees-McRae College for his undergrad and NC State University for graduate school. After college, he obtained a USCG license and worked as a private yacht captain in New England and the Caribbean, amassing extensive sailing experience aboard vessels ranging from a Swan 56 to an Oyster 66, which he captained for five years. Matthew’s approach to yacht buying starts with defining a specific mission: asking, “What does the perfect day aboard my future boat look like?” He believes in matching the right boat to that vision. Matthew’s personal boat, a classic L. Francis Herreshoff Nereia, is a familiar sight along the Beaufort waterfront.
