Introduction
The Sabre 38 MKII is well known form her combination of excellent sailing abilities, comfortable cruising amenities and classic good looks. SABRENA is set up to sleep seven with two separate sleeping cabins with a large open salon, functional galley and large Nav station. Sail handling is easily done shorthanded with a Dutchman system for the main with large self-tailing oversized genoa winches, and genoa mounted on a Harken Roller Furler.
Accommodations
- As with most Sabre's Sabrena has a lovely interior that is warm and inviting yet bright at the same time. She has multiple opening hatches and portlights for excellent ventilation as well as light. She has beautiful teak cabinetry and joinery finished in a satin varnish. Teak battens on the ceiling as well as the teak and holly sole also add warmth to her interior.
- The 38 MKII has a well laid out interior with two separate private sleeping cabins but still offers a large and accommodating salon and galley area. Starting forward is the first cabin with centerline V-berth, shelving outboard, drawers under the berth, seat and vanity with sink to port, and hanging locker to starboard. Overhead hatch and opening portlights offer plenty of light and ventilation. As you walk aft into the salon you will see she has a settee to starboard, closed and open shelving outboard, small custom table can be added to this side of the salon with 2 leaves. To port is the L-shaped dinette with filler it can create an addition double berth. Here there is open and closed shelving outboard as well as a large bulkhead mounted dining table that tucks up and out of the way when not in use. Lovely medium blue fabric throughout the vessel with curved corner cushions for comfortable lounging. Aft of the starboard settee is the aft facing Navigation station. This is a great configuration as one can communicate with the skipper in the cockpit. Aft of the Navigation station is her large head with vanity, head and shower area. Not quite a separate shower stall but close as it has its own area with seat and opening portlight, removable teak floor boards, closed storage outboard and under the vanity. Opposite the Navigation station is the fully equipped L-shaped galley. Aft of the galley is the entrance into the second private cabin. The aft cabin offers a double berth, cabinets outboard, seat, additional engine access, ceiling strips line the hull sides as well as an opening portlight making for a warm and inviting cabin.
- Centerline steps lead to her large T-shaped cockpit with helm pod on pedestal. Catbird seats on the aft pulpit port and starboard. Propane storage locker as well as a starboard locker for fenders and extra gear. Updated dodger with stainless steel side handrails help one to her wide side decks and easy access to the fore deck.
- Sabre has modernized their design and at the same time their sailboats still have a traditional look about them. Modern underbody makes not only a nice cruising vessel but one that is very competitive as well. It is a nice feature to have a builder here in the US that is always available to answer questions or supply parts if needed.

The water has always been a part of my life since learning to sail aboard a Sailfish while vacationing in Chatham, Massachusetts. At twelve, I graduated to Penguins and 420’s at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. My parents always belonged to the Corinthian Yacht Club in Philadelphia and I often accompanied them on cruises aboard a Hinckley Bermuda 40 that we cruised in the Chesapeake.
Understanding banking after working 12 years for Loyola Savings and Loan of Maryland, I helped navigate the purchase of a 32’ Pearson Vanguard for a friend and taught him to sail. Loving the idea of sharing my passion for boating, I joined Oxford Boatyard Yacht Sales (in what is now Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard and Marina) in 1990 and worked as a broker and office manager for 25 years.
In 1993, Oxford Boatyard Yacht Sales became a dealer for Sabre and Back Cove Motor Yachts and I acquired an understanding and respect for powerboats. I worked closely with the boatyard commissioning new vessels and working as a liaison between new owners and the marina. I have an intimate understanding of the boat buying process - how to guide new owners through surveys, sea trials, registration, and documentation.
I love all boats and each one has its own quality. Though I would consider myself a traditionalist in boat design, I like what the new designs offer in comfort and ability.
My husband (of 30 years) and I live in Easton, Maryland. My husband is the rigging supervisor at Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard and our daughter, having graduated from Washington College in 2020, is now teaching English as well as coaching the sailing team at the Gunston School in Centreville, Md. She has recently come on board as the Summer Sailing Director with the Tred Avon Yacht Club.
I am starting my 7th year as a broker with Brewer Yacht Sales and in addition to my office at Safe Harbor Zahniser’s in Solomon’s, Maryland I now have an office at Safe Harbor Oxford. This enables me to cover the territory from the Eastern Shore to Solomon’s Island and everything in between.
I look forward to speaking with you and sharing my passion for boats. Let me help you find the perfect yacht or support and guide you in the sale of your existing vessel!
