Born and raised on a bayou near Galveston, Texas, Mark Parker grew up boating with his father. He always knew he wanted to be a yacht broker and has spent his life learning the business. He worked as a boat mate and later was a captain on sportfishing boats every summer during high school and college.
After graduating from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in marketing, Mark joined a yacht brokerage firm where he consistently was a top-selling agent. Mark’s passion for the boating industry inspired him to co-write and publish the PowerBoat Guide marine reference books. After starting the research in 1987, Mark and his co-author published the first annual PowerBoat Guide in 1989.
