Full Specs
Designed by Robert Perry, the Islander 28 is a well sought out vessel and Perry says it is one of his favorite designs. It certainly is a joy to sail with expectations up to 7 kts. under sail with her deck-stepped atop a compression post, (which is a part of the main bulkhead, so is not in the way, single-spreader masthead rig. Besides being great looking, she has a very inviting interior with 6’ headroom and berths for six. Not quite typical for boats this size, the Islander 28 has the usual double forepeak berth, a single settee berth to port and a pull-out double starboard finished off with a starboard quarter berth. The head, on the starboard side, has its own compartment that is totally private from the main salon as well as the forward cabin with a solid door. There are shelves above the settees and lockers in the head area and across. The galley is L-shaped with sink, top-loading ice box and convenient, but out of the way trash bin. The cabin is rich with teak and oak woodwork. A pocket table pulls out from under an enclosed compartment with a shelf above. There are two leafs. While very comfortable for cruising, she makes a great club racer due to her high lift keel, high aspect ratio rig. The headliner is a washable vinyl with zippers to gain access to deck hardware fasteners. It’s a very well, thought out boat. The owner says she is turnkey, ready to go, has never seen salt water, never was in charter and never in any accidents.
