Description
Rabbit Hole is a Morgan Classic 41' masthead sloop with a center cockpit, shoal draft keel and three cabin layout. The Morgan Classic 41 is also known as the Morgan Out Island Classic.
"The Yacht has been meticulously refined over recent years. Ideas from the owners, new innovations in materials and equipment, and of course federal and maritime upgrades in regulations are a few of the influences on the continual upgrading. Today the Out Island 41 is contemporary in both concept and detail.
Major features in the design of the Out Island 41 Classic are:
- Shoal Draft without the usual problems associated with center boards, but accepting some compromise in windward performance.
- Maximum usable space below decks.
- Dedicated to the preservation of aesthetics.
The basic approach to styling was to maintain a low profile without the traditional high trunk cabin. This was accomplished by using a modified flush deck design. A low sheer line was created by the rub rail detail and contrasting whale stripe. The result is a low appearing freeboard with an actual positioning of the weather deck well above the water line.
Maximum interior space was accomplished primarily through her wide beam. The beam to length ratio of the Catalina Morgan 41 is .34 (Most sailing yachts center around .30). The maximum beam also provides good hull form stability which, is important in cruising sailboats, especially those with shoal draft keels.
The wide beam provides more than the usual amount of clear deck space and room for a large center cockpit. The center cockpit allows space below for a large engine room amid ships.
The engine room location provides a substantial physical separation of the aft stateroom and the main salon, resulting in a high degree of privacy for a yacht of this size.
The raised flush deck and center cockpit offer a very high degree of visibility in all directions, under sail or power and the deck surfaces are clear and high out of the water, making topside work easier and safer in the roughest of weather.

Capt. Rod Thomas Served as a marine engineer for DS Marine Palma Mallorca and also operated as delivery skipper in the Mediterranean for many years. Rod is an RYA Yacht/Ocean Master and also holds a USA Captains License.
