Description
General Description
Rising Star is a wonderful example of this David Pedrick designed performance cruiser from Freedom Yachts. Called the fastest freedom pound for pound, the 35 is nimble, weatherly, well balanced, and easy to sail. She features a free-standing carbon fiber mast and she is equipped with the rare factory installed 135% roller furling genoa with cockpit combing winches that improve upwind performance. A 90% genoa is also included should you wish for a self-tending jib. The swim platform, walk-through transom, and low step companion way, make for effortless movement around this boat.
Many have called the Freedom 35 interior one of the most innovative in her class. Twelve opening ports, four ventilation hatches and two skylights make her interior bright and airy. Rising star has the added benefit of the rare teak interior (most are cherry) and a well-kept teak and holly sole. There is ample storage though out the interior and she features an Espar diesel heater to extend your boating season.
She features white topsides, a custom blue bottom, and a white deck with a contrasting grey non-skid. A blue cove stripe and boot stripe finish off her classic color scheme.
If you are looking for a high-quality well-maintained cruiser that is fast and capable yet easily managed single/short-handed, then Rising Star may be a good fit for you

Karl Olsen’s obsession with boats is rooted in his 50 years of experience on salt water. When he was a boy growing up on the Connecticut shore, there was just one choice in how to spend weekends and summers: on a boat—or not. His earliest nautical experience included racing sailing dinghies and tooling around in small outboard skiffs on Long Island Sound. Since then, family cruises have taken him from Virginia up to the northern reaches of Maine.
“I began messing about in boats at the ripe old age of 4 and by now I’ve owned and/or operated 13 different boats, sail and power, so I’m pretty knowledgeable with all, or anyway most, types of boat-building and nautical systems.”
Prior to being a Yacht Broker, Karl had a career as an executive with leadership roles in some of the largest life and health insurance providers in the US. “I am delighted now to be able to do something I really love—and I look forward to working with our clients on things we’re all passionate about.”
