Ever since I was a little boy I have always gravitated to mechanical things…and well remember smashing my thumb with my fathers hammer on many occasions whilst 'helping' him in his workshop in the evenings and on weekends.

Having started in the aircraft industry as an apprentice engineer to get my flying hours up in the mid-seventies the progression to sailboats was natural.

Selling up to go sailing as paying crew on the Polish Ketch CZARNY DIAMENT and arriving in the Caribbean in 1981 for the first time, I was hooked on the beauty and the lifestyle.

After leaving the boat in St Lucia and back packing through Europe for a year I finally returned to Cape Town with my sailing dreams firmly tucked in my memory bank of “things to do again”

It took me more than 10 years back home to afford and rebuild my first yacht, which, after having sailed across from Africa in the early nineties, was our permanent home for a number of years. After chartering and being involved in almost all the aspects of the marine industry for over forty years, we now have a family and don't do charters anymore…. we still have a boat though!

The progression from captaining charter boats through project managing refits once we had a family and then running a charter base followed in quick succession. Buying and selling boats for our own account followed and then putting together willing buyers and sellers in a formal brokerage environment were the next logical steps.
