Description
Introducing Kaymar, a 1996 Old Port Marine 26 center console launch, custom fit for enjoyment as a “picnic boat” or open cockpit recreational launch. Kaymar has a full keel, semi displacement hull with classic Down-east style featuring a high flared entry, built-in spray rails, and a wide 9’2” beam carrying back to the transom. The design makes her roomy, stable in choppy seas, highly maneuverable (she can be turned, either direction, in a boat length), and easy to drive. The high shear forward, gracefully tapers to a low shear aft, giving her stability and providing passengers’ easy access to the water, docks, and rafts.
The hull is crafted of hand-laid fiberglass, ensuring durability and stability. Awlgripped in 2025. Kaymar is powered by a reliable, fuel efficient Yanmar 4JH2-DT turbo charged diesel engine, delivering approx 88hp and cruising comfortably at 12 knots. The engine has approx 1012 hours (August 2025).
Kaymar is equipped with far more than the essential features. She has a cuddy forward with a vee-berth and cushions, LED reading lights, storage shelves with teak trim port and starboard, tool storage locker, two storage cabinets with teak doors and counters, one with a spigot for 6.5-gallon freshwater container in the cabinet under. Four portholes and Lewmar hatch, with screen, provide ventilation and lots of light. The lockable teak cuddy entry doors provide secure storage and privacy for the portable head stowed under the cockpit. Two aft cockpit scuppers and an automatic bilge pump help keep the deck and the bilge dry.
The helmsman’s station is just aft of the engine box. The station houses the hydraulic steering control, engine controls, Ritchie “Helmsman” compass, mechanical connections, VHF radio, engine gauges, chart plotter, and electronic equipment. The 5-circuit electrical panel is also installed in the station with a clear cover to protect it from the elements. The engine box has soundproofing, recessed handles, and is fitted with a seating cushion.
Aft of the helmsman station is the cushioned helmsman’s seat, with storage under for 12V battery, power switch, signal kit, etc. There are teak doors, port and starboard, for easy access to the storage.
Kaymar is a truly unique boat, well maintained, and ready for your immediate enjoyment. It's thoughtful design caters to both seasoned boaters and newcomers alike, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a dependable and stylish vessel for their aquatic pursuits.

Willie is originally from Dublin, Ireland and grew up sailing on the Irish Sea. From a young age he competed as much as he could and as a young man crewed in several successful racing programs both in Ireland and abroad. His racing days expanded into boat management, instruction and maintenance that resulted in jobs around the world including Greece, Spain, and Australia before moving to Chicago in the early 2000s.
After a few years with a sailing and charter business in Chicago, Willie began working with a private owner who was passionate about both sailboat and powerboat restorations. Together they restored two Huckins powerboats over several years which led to a new pastime for Willie who has since worked closely with many Huckins owners around the country. To date he has been involved with over ten refits and is one of the most knowledgeable Huckins boaters around.
Willie has sailed tens of thousands of miles between racing, deliveries and cruising, in every role imaginable. His broad boating background guarantees he will be able to understand what any client is looking for and provide first-hand experience and advice on all aspects of boat ownership and management. He knows the benefits and challenges of being a boat owner and will give honest answers to any questions someone may have.
When Willie is not taking care of other people’s boats or talking about boats or reading about boats or thinking about boats, he can be found sailing on his own 38’ sailboat with his wife and two young children. Who, fortunately, also really like boats.
