Description
Wanna get away? Dauntless will take you there!
A custom-built 78’ expedition yacht by a world-famous sculptor, Art Benson, for him and his family to travel the world in. The yacht is designed as a sculpture as well as a serious offshore explorer schooner sailing yacht with beautiful hull lines and custom molded bronze fixtures.
Originally named “Javalina Queen,” she’s specially designed for higher latitude sailing equipped with 6 inches of insulation throughout. The enclosed heated pilot house, steel hull and reinforced bow are built for cutting through ice packs of the arctic. The layout is simple and functional with a master cabin aft near the pilot house for easy intervention at the helm. The guest quarters are forward with a desk and its own private head. Enjoy the large whale watching platform around the bow sprit with all your friends and family.
The gally is equipped with a new large gimbled 4 burner stove and oven. For refrigeration purposes, she is equipped with 2 full sized fridges, and a deep freezer in the engine room.
The engine room is very large with a work bench, a generator, welder, and a refreshed, low hours 3208 caterpillar main motor.
The ground tackle for this yacht includes (2) 400-pound anchors each with 250ft of chain in easy-to-use houser pipes.
The yacht's power supply consists of 2 D-series deeps cycles batteries, and 2 D-series lithium polymer batteries. To charge them, there is a master volt inverter charger when attached to shore power and 1000 watts of solar power mated to a 60-amp charge converter for when underway.
For navigation, the yacht is equipped with (2)24-inch computers both running Coastal Explorer, with their own AIS receivers, gps receivers and marine nema 2000 network backbone.
Along with the 2 computers there is a screen for the yacht's camera system, including 2 cameras placed in the engine room, and one on each wing of the pilot house. For easy navigation, the yacht has also been equipped with a brand-new Ray Marine autopilot system which includes a Raytheon SL70 radar, a standard horizon loud haler, and vhf radio.
The sails and rigging have all been inspected. During the inspection, it was found that all new running rigging was needed so, the 2 miles of rope required to run the rig were all pulled down and replaced. The standing rigging was gone through and repaired where needed.
