2003 Multiplast 124' (37.80 m)
Vannes
A legend of the Jules Verne Trophy becomes the fastest sailing yacht in the world!THE LEGEND: ORANGE IIWhen maxi-catamaran Orange 2 (36.80 meters) was launched at the Multiplast yard in 2003, it quickly accumulated the largest list of records and performances of its time. These include the Jules Verne Trophy (record for the fastest circumnavigation) in 50 days 16 hours and 20 minutes, the fastest crossing of the Atlantic and setting the 24 hour speed record. In 2015, under the guidance of its new owner, it was refitted at the Multiplast yard in France to become a private, pleasure yacht - VITALIA II.THE REFIT: AN EXCEPTIONAL PROJECTThere was no way to kill the DNA of the boat. This audacious project preserved the soul of the racing catamaran while allowing for a navigation program around the world. It took 30,000 hours and a great number of people to achieve this transformation. For Jack Michal, Frank Martin and Yann Penfornis it was an emotional project. Having participated in the original design alongsideGilles Ollier, they would now be a part of its new beginning. Also they would be able to utilize the original plans and calculations to prepare the amendments for VITALIA II.CRUISING THE WORLD'S OCEANSVITALIA II cruises at 15 kts and reaches speeds in the 30 kts range. Breathtaking. No other private, sailing yacht can match such performance under sail. And this in the comfort of a catamaran platform with uncommonly high bridge-deck clearance and freeboard. This affords a dry and safe ride in all sea conditions. VITALIA II has benefited from meticulous monitoring and exemplary preventative maintenance. The yacht has always been managed by a full time crew of 4-5. It is hauled at four year intervals and the mast is stepped and inspected every two years. Today, she presents herself as a reliable, perfectly sound, and remarkably seaworthy sailboat, ready to continue long voyages in complete safety. The yacht has just completed a recent ocean passage and is now back at the Multiplast yard for maintenance. We can provide a detailed maintenance history and a list of work in progress to serious parties. The engines, generator, electronics, sails, running rigging, water-maker are all new in the last 12-18 months. The standing rigging is scheduled for replacement in the next months. The yacht is ready to embark on a new circumnavigation. Call us for details or to arrange a showing of this remarkable yacht.

Alexis grew up racing dinghies in the waters of Brittany, France. He immigrated to the United States as a young man and developed his interest in offshore cruising and racing in New England and the Bahamas. Alexis began his professional yachting career as a charter captain sailing the storied seas of French Polynesia on a Fountaine-Pajot Marquises 56 catamaran. There he developed a talent for sharing and communicating his love for bluewater sailing to his worldly guests.
More recently, Alexis spent ten years managing Nautor’s Swan Charters, a high-end charter company with over fifty Swans based in the Caribbean, New England and the Mediterranean. While at Nautor’s Swan, Alexis coordinated sales of new yachts through the French defiscalisation program. He later instituted a successful yacht sales and management program to develop the fleet in non-French territories. This experience gave him substantial experience in the many facets of yacht sales and brokerage in the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.
Alexis is bilingual English-French. He was educated in the United States and has worked in the US, Europe and the Caribbean. He has sailed extensively on multihulls and particularly enjoys performance cats.
