Airbender is a 2013 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 that has been thoughtfully maintained and actively cruised by experienced owners. With a proven blue-water history, a comfortable liveaboard layout, and easy handling under sail, she is a turn-key cruiser ready for her next adventure.
Until 2018, Airbender operated in a professionally managed charter program, and since then she has been privately owned and carefully upgraded. The current owners purchased her in 2023 and immediately began preparing her for extended offshore cruising. After a season in the Mediterranean, she was outfitted for ocean passages and successfully completed an Atlantic crossing. Over the past two seasons, she has cruised the Caribbean, offering a balance of reliable performance and comfortable liveaboard living.
Designed by Philippe Briand, the Sun Odyssey 409 is celebrated for its combination of stability, performance, and ease of handling. Airbender sails exceptionally well with responsive steering and a powerful yet manageable rig. All lines are led aft to the cockpit, allowing short-handed sailing or easy operation as a couple. She delivers confidence at sea without sacrificing the enjoyment of day-to-day sailing.
Below deck, the interior is bright, airy, and thoughtfully laid out, offering excellent ventilation, generous storage, and comfortable living spaces. The layout makes her ideal for extended cruising, providing both functionality and a welcoming environment at anchor or underway. Systems have been set up to support independent living for weeks at a time, making life aboard convenient and enjoyable.
Airbender is equipped with modern electronics and navigation systems, including a Raymarine ST70 autopilot, Raymarine Axiom 9 chartplotter, tridata, depth and speed instruments, VHF Ray49E, compass, AIS receiver and transmitter, and an EPIRB for safety and confidence on long passages. Power and energy systems include 780 watts of solar, three 230 amp-hour lithium house batteries, a Victron inverter, Victron MPPT controllers, battery monitors, chargers, and dedicated batteries for engine, bow thruster, and navigation systems.
Anchoring and deck gear are ready for extended use, with a 22 kilogram Delta anchor and 70 meters of chain, a 20 kilogram Danforth anchor, and a Quick 1000 windlass. Comfort and convenience features include a bimini, spray hood, cockpit cushions, folding cockpit table, deck awning, rain catcher, solar arch, dinghy davits, fold-down swim platform with ladder, and a transom shower. Safety is enhanced with a four-man liferaft.
Her sail handling setup is optimized for ease and performance, including new standing rigging in 2023, a Selden rod kicker, roller furling main and genoa, and Harken self-tailing winches. The sails were serviced in 2025 after being inspected and maintained since 2019.
With ongoing meticulous maintenance, Airbender remains in excellent mechanical, structural, and cosmetic condition. She represents a rare opportunity to acquire a proven blue-water cruiser that combines safety, comfort, and performance, ready to sail the Caribbean and beyond.

Chris was born into a serious sailing family, growing up he had a passion for sailing, fishing, and diving. Every weekend was spent on the water and holidays were cruising the Grenadines and Windward Islands.
His passion for the sea has lasted, and before joining us at B.V.I. Yacht Sales Chris was a charter captain in the sportfishing industry.
He has been helping owners of vessels based in the Caribbean for the past 5 years, from his base in Barbados. His long background with all the factors of sailing, fishing and all things boating in the Caribbean means he is an excellent resource in figuring out where to place your boat for the best sale, or how to get the best sale whichever island you are on.
