Description
Legacy Yachts was established in 1995 and can trace their origins to the well respected Freedom Yacht Company. Built in Rhode Island, the Legacy 42 Sedan is highly regarded for her quality of construction and classic Downeast design. Downeast style cruisers, such as the Legacy 42, have become extremely popular due to their classic styling, performance and fuel efficiency. "Tilly Too" is in excellent condition with many recent upgrades (including recently added GARMIN electronics package) , and she will not disappoint. Powered by a single Cummins QSM11 660 HP diesel (@1735 lifetime hours), the "Tilly Too" is extremely fuel efficient and also has the ability to cruise at 18 knots with a top-end of 24 knots. With her bow and stern thrusters and side door at the helm, "Tilly Too" is quite easy for a couple to handle at the dock. Her propeller is skeg-protected, and she is equipped with a very nice electronics package. This boat is a real head-turner at every yacht club that she visits!
Some of her notable upgrades and features include:
Awlgripped flag-blue hullsides 2017

Victron 80 amp 2000 watt Charger/Inverter tied to house bank.
Dripless shaft seal

LOAD FACTOR: For those who understand the expected longevity of an engine and how it relates to total liftime fuel burned, "Tilly Too" has a "Load Factor" of 24%. She has a lifetime burn rate of only 9.3 gph, and burns 37.7 at WOT. Good numbers!

Vessel Overview
"Tilly Too" has the much sought-after galley-down arrangement, with the convertible dinette opposite. This configuration is the most desired by couples that plans to do some serious cruising (such as the Great Loop) with only occasional guests. It is the the most open layout available in this model, giving the yacht a much larger interior feel. Unlike most of her sisterships, "Tilly Too" has twin settees to port and starboard in the salon, giving her an even more open feel. Forward in the salon is the helm station to starboard (with a side door leading to the wide side deck), with the companion seat to port. Both the companion seat and the helm seat are adjustable STIDD chairs, with the helm seat being extra-wide. A new refrigerator has been installed beneath the helm seat.
Down three steps moving forward, the large and airy galley is to port, with the convertible dinette and entertainment center to starboard. Forward to port is the private head with large stall shower, and the Master Stateroom with centerline queen berth (and private access to the head) is in the bow.
Aft of the main cabin is the large cockpit with transom door and swim platform, making access to the cockpit from a floating dock very easy. Two aft-facing bench seats are on either side of the centerline salon door, and there are steps on both sides of the house giving easy access to the wide side decks. The tall stainless bow and siderails makes access to the bow very comfortable and safe. The rigid inflatable dingy is located on a very convenient transom-mounted hoist. Very easy to deploy and stow.
Salon
From the cockpit, you enter the salon through a centerline sliding door. Step inside and sense the openness and the panoramic view. The quality of the build, and especially the woodwork, is immediately apparent. This roomy space features:
Port and starboard windows aft- sliding glass with screens
Side windows slide open- with screens
Custom curtains, both sides and aft
High gloss teak and holly sole
Engine room access - centerline and aft
Ultra leather sofas, port and starboard, with storage beneath
Decorative pillows
Bullet readings lights, aft to port and starboard
4 Flush mounted overhead lights, 2 stereo speakers
2 overhead Bowmar Hatches with screens
Courtesy lights, port and starboard
Helm
Galley
Leaving the helm area and down 3 steps, the U-Shaped galley is to port. An abundance of natural sunlight through the overhead windshield and multiple portlights gives the space an "open air" feeling- not at all like the typical crowded feel found on many other galley-down yachts. Some of this is attributed to the fact that the convertible dinette is just across to starboard, making the entire space an open full-beam area. The galley has all of the conveniences one would expect to find in a serious cruising yacht:
3 wood steps, the top 2 steps hinge open for storage
Courtesy lights in steps
Teak and holly sole
Corian Countertops
2-burner propane stove and oven, located aft in galley- cover for stove
Storage above and below stove
2 120V outlets
Stainless steel double sink with faucet and spray nozzle
Storage beneath sink, 3 drawers and door locker
3 storage areas outboard
Under-counter lighting
Pocket storage in counter
Microwave oven with storage on either side
Tundra refrigerator/freezer
Overhead lighting
Dinette
Directly across from the galley is the Convertible Dinette, which shares with the galley the abundant sunlight and adds to the open feel of the space. When needed, this space can be used to sleep guests as the dinette converts to a double berth. The dinette area also houses the large flat-screen TV, and can be treated like an "office away from home" while cruising. Other features include:
L-shaped dinette with storage beneath, converts to double berth
Decorative pillows
Teak and Holly Sole
Bi-fold table on two pedestals
Flatscreen TV- forward
Two 120 V outlets
2 outboard storage lockers with door
Storage shelves
1 large storage locker forward
2 porlights with shade
2 bullet reading lights, fore and aft
Overhead Bowmar Hatch with screen
Overhead lights
Courtesy Lights
Head
Forward of the galley, to port, is the enclosed head. Access is provided through a door that opens to the dinette area, as well as a private entrance from the Master Stateroom. The space is nice and roomy, especially for a 42' yacht. Some of the highlights are:
Overhead Bowmar hatch with screen
Overhead lighting
Portlight with shade
Corian countertop
Stainless steel sink with Grohe single lever faucet
Large mirror
Storage beneath sink
120V outlet

2 portlights, port and starboard, with shades
CO2 Alarm
Storage lockers with shelves, port and starboard
Large hanging closet
