Description
Classic appeal, brand new Yanmar 57 HP engine: authentic wooden trawler ready to take you truly off the grid. Low-cost and low-stress cruising awaits!
For the purist who craves authentic, no-nonsense seafaring, this 2005 wooden-hulled sail-assisted trawler/motorsailor is gloriously minimalistic but can also be easily modernized with expanded solar capacity or anything else the new owner desires. She has been featured in multiple cruising publications (see links) and her owners teach seminars on simple and LOW-COST cruising for the SSCA and other organizations. Their legacy and hard work will allow you to enjoy cruising with more relaxation and less time spent fixing complicated systems.
Her loving owners constructed her themselves using carvel-planked pressure-treated pine over sawn frames with galvanized fasteners in a backyard setting, emphasizing simplicity, affordability, seaworthiness, and self-sufficiency for long-term liveaboard cruising for a couple. Her interior is varnished cypress with bronze fasteners.
This is an honest, capable vessel built for those who appreciate wood's warm character, clean lines, and the romance of classic boat design. Traditional displacement hull, steadying sails for smoother passages and fuel savings in a breeze, and the unmistakable soul of a bygone era. She's a head-turner and you'll make friends wherever you go...if that's what you want. But if your ultimate desire is to be off-grid and away from the world, she's the right boat for that too.

Marcy was born in upstate New York, then moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she fell in love with the beach and beach life…until Jaws came out and she saw it at the drive-in with her parents. Her childhood took her back the upstate New York, where she grew up a “Lake Girl” boating aboard a 1977 family-owned Bayliner Liberty on Seneca Lake. Summers were spent on Devil’s Lake, in the Frontenac Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. Her experience then revolved around power boats and canoes, and she was always on the water enjoying the fresh air, exploring, fishing, swimming and basking in the camaraderie that comes with making friends on the water. While gathering drinking water and provisions in Westport, Ontario, on these summer trips, she was always fascinated with the cruisers that were docked on Upper Rideau Lake. Seeing the names and ports of call was always the highlight of these visits to town. Marcy has the sea in her veins, and naturally evolved to enjoy sailing on bluewater cruising boats as an adult.
Marcy holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of New York and an MS in Business Management from Northern Illinois University. She worked for 15 years as a Business Engineering Manager for UPS, and 11 years in Finance & Operations in public administration, while raising her two daughters just outside of Chicago. In 2020, Marcy answered the call of the sea and travelled to Florida to be one of the three founders of Sunshine Cruising Yachts—an adventure that has reconnected her with the outdoors and given her a new love and appreciation for the sea and the people who travel it.
She earned the title of “Top Salesperson” for SCY for four years in a row, and continues to be a team leader and integral part of the crew.
She covers all parts of the globe, specializing in Florida, Puerto Rico, & the Caribbean.
Both of her girls have now graduated college, and are excited to visit their mom in Florida and beyond.
