One of Alan’s greatest joy is sharing the yachting lifestyle—from introducing newcomers to their first boating experience to exchanging sea stories with seasoned sailors. With a lifetime spent on the water and a customer-focused approach honed through decades of entrepreneurial success, Alan brings deep experience and a personal touch to every client relationship.
Raised in Miami, Florida, Alan was cruising to the Bahamas before he could ride a bike. His early boating education came aboard an impressive fleet of family vessels, including a 42’ Irwin Ketch, 36’ Grand Banks, 42’ Hatteras LRC, 58’ Cheoy Lee, and his grandfather’s 76’ Huckins. By the time he was a teenager, Alan was teaching sailing and waterskiing during summer breaks—further strengthening his lifelong bond with the water.
Alan discovered Saint Petersburg while attending Eckerd College and quickly fell in love with its vibrant boating community. After graduation, he launched a successful chain of retail furniture stores in Phoenix, Arizona, guided by two core principles: offer the best products and deliver exceptional service. Even as his business grew, the ocean kept calling. Alan structured his company to operate remotely, often working from his boat in the Florida Keys or the Bahamas—long before “remote work” was common.
Throughout the years, Alan has owned and maintained a variety of vessels, including a Hewes Redfisher, 31’ Fountain, 35’ Contender, 26’ Intrepid, and a Bertram 510. His time in the Out Islands gave him hands-on experience with nearly every onboard system—from diesel engine maintenance and generator repair to line splicing and antenna installation. His children grew up exploring the Bahamas as naturally as their own backyard.
After nearly 30 years in retail, Alan returned full-time to his first love: boating. As a yacht broker, he combines his business acumen, technical know-how, and deep-rooted passion for the sea to help others find the right boat for their needs. Whether it’s your first vessel or your next adventure, Alan is committed to making your yachting experience smooth, enjoyable, and unforgettable.
