Description
SOLD: The Beneteau Oceanis 311 is one of the most popular 31-foot cruising sailboats ever produced by Beneteau USA, combining comfortable accommodations, shallow draft versatility, and efficient sailing performance into an easy-to-handle coastal cruiser. Designed by renowned French naval architect Jean-Marie Finot and built between 1997 and 2003, the Oceanis 311 remains highly sought after by sailors looking for a capable cruising sailboat ideal for weekend sailing, coastal passages, and extended cruising adventures.
With her wide beam carried well aft, the Oceanis 311 delivers a spacious cockpit and an exceptionally roomy interior for a boat in this size range. The well-designed layout features two private cabins, a large main salon with opposing settees, an L-shaped galley, dedicated navigation station, and an enclosed head with shower. Generous 6’2” headroom provides a level of comfort rarely found in many 31-foot sailboats.
Above deck, the Oceanis 311 features a fractional rig, wheel steering, and an ergonomic cockpit designed for both entertaining and short-handed sailing. Beneteau’s signature sugar-scoop transom with integrated swim platform offers easy access to the water for swimming, dinghy boarding, and watersports. Notably, Beneteau was among the first production sailboat builders to popularize the sugar-scoop transom design during the 1980s.
“Tootie Ma” was built in Marion, South Carolina, and equipped with the desirable lifting keel configuration, providing exceptional cruising flexibility with a draft of only 2’7” with the centerboard raised and 7’1” fully lowered. This versatile setup allows access to shallow anchorages while still delivering excellent upwind sailing performance offshore.
Well equipped with air conditioning, refrigeration, a bimini top, and the classic mast configuration, this sold Oceanis 311 represented an outstanding value in the cruising sailboat market. Combining modern amenities, proven sailing characteristics, and Beneteau’s reputation for quality construction, the Oceanis 311 continues to be one of the most desirable compact cruising sailboats available on the brokerage market today.

Built by Beneteau USA in Marion, South Carolina.
The Beneteau 311 and the Oceanis 311 are essentially the same boat—the difference is purely a matter of marketing. From the 1990s until about 2011, Beneteau USA chose to market these models without using the "Oceanis" designation. Despite this marketing decision, the hull plaques on all of these boats still carried the "Oceanis" model name.
