EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Growing up in Manchester, Mass. and summering on Penobscot Bay in Maine, Sean learned to sail at an early age, was a summer sailing instructor at the Camden Yacht Club and always had his eye on a career in boating.
Sean graduated from The University of Pennsylvania where he was on the lightweight crew and was captain of the Penn Sailing team. Summer jobs often included running offshore racing yachts, as well as commissioning and delivering yachts up and down the eastern seaboard.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
After college, Sean began his yacht design career with Pedrick Yacht Designs in Newport, RI where he contributed to such notable designs as Stars and Stripes ’87 for the America’s Cup and the IOR Maxi boats “Sovereign” and “Drumbeat”. After ten years, he continued his design career with his own company, Fawcett Designs where he was part of the technology team for the America3 Americas Cup campaign.
Sean is joining us after ten years at The Landing School where he was Yacht Design Instructor, Director of Education and, most recently, President.
As a designer, Sean learned that it is imperative to understand how the performance of the boat matches the objectives of the owner. As such, Sean has raced or cruised with clients in almost every ocean in the world including competing in multiple SORC’s, Bermuda Races, Halifax Races, Kenwood Cups and Fastnet Races. Sean brings these same analytical skills to Yacht Brokerage, assuring that the boat matches the mission of the client.
Sean is excited to share his knowledge and passion for the sea with you on your journey in boating.
