Description
This 2002 Grady-White Sailfish 282 is a premier example of why this model remains a benchmark in the walkaround category. Perfectly balancing the requirements of a serious offshore fishing platform with the comforts of a weekend cruiser, she is built on the legendary SeaV2 hull for a notoriously soft, dry ride.
Vessel Highlights
- Cockpit & Helm: The versatile large cockpit features a functional open layout for fishing—complete with a livewell, insulated fish boxes, and ample tackle storage. For social outings, the fold-up seating quickly transforms the space for entertaining. The helm offers excellent 360-degree visibility and intuitive access to all controls.
- Accommodations: Below deck, the cabin offers a comfortable escape with a double berth, a compact galley to port, and a fully enclosed head with a shower to starboard.
- Deck Access: Wide side-decks with strategically placed handholds provide safe, easy access to the foredeck and windlass.
- Engine Performance & PropulsionThis Sailfish 282 is powered by Twin Yamaha F250 Four-Stroke outboards, providing the ideal balance of reliability, torque, and fuel efficiency for this hull.
- Cruising Speed: Effortless cruise between 31–33 mph at 3500–4000 RPM.
- Top Speed: Capable of reaching 48–51 mph at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
- Fuel Efficiency: Optimized for long-range offshore trips with an estimated burn rate of 18–22 GPH at cruise, achieving approximately 1.5–1.7 MPG.
- Handling: The increased horsepower of the F250S ensures a superior "hole shot" and the ability to maintain a steady plane even when the 220-gallon fuel tanks are topped off, and the boat is fully loaded for fishing.

Hank began in the boat business working with his father at the boatbuilding firms Gloucester Yachts and Chesapeake Powerboats in the mid 1980’s. He has since worked in sales capacities in the construction and marine supply businesses, and prior to joining Bluewater in 2011 he sold new and brokerage boats in Virginia Beach.
Hank is a long time sportfisherman and has known the Chesapeake since his youth, volunteering on committee boats several major tournaments. Recent years have found him offshore as well as part of Team Marlin Maniac. He and his wife Beverly have two boys, and make their home in West Point, Virginia. His boatbuilding and fishing background is a valuable asset in matching clients and the perfect boat.
