John Guidotti grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Mayo and Edgewater, Maryland, where he worked for several watermen and developed a deep foundation in maritime life. He graduated from South River High School in 1996 and joined the U.S. Army in 1999, spending nearly 20 years in service, including three deployments in Iraq.
In 2018, John returned home to Maryland and purchased a boat after losing a bid on a house—marking the beginning of his transition back to civilian life on the water.
Shortly thereafter, he began working as a yacht broker with Hawks Marine. Not long into his brokerage career, he obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Master 100 Ton license, which he has held for the past six years.
John has experience operating a wide range of vessels, from 11-foot RIBs to the 140-foot, 450-passenger dinner vessel The Spirit of Baltimore. The majority of his experience, however, is with private yachts ranging from 30 to 70 feet. He has completed vessel deliveries up and down the East Coast, from New York to the southern coast of North Carolina. John currently lives aboard his own boat in Baltimore Harbor.
