Description
The 2000 Manta 42 represents the absolute pinnacle of the American-built bluewater cruising catamaran. Meticulously engineered at the Endeavour Yard in Florida, this vessel earned its legendary pedigree by winning Cruising World’s Best Value Overall of the Year 2001. It is celebrated across the globe as the ultimate liveaboard couple's cruiser. It seamlessly blends a highly durable, high-performance monocoque structure with a single-handed sailing layout. This ensures that your open-ocean voyages are fast, secure, and incredibly comfortable.
Pure Performance & Effortless Short-Handed Sailing
The Manta 42 is engineered to tackle blue water with complete confidence. Its fiberglass hull features bulletproof structural enhancements including Kevlar reinforcement in the bow and keel zones. The complete hull-to-deck bond is secured with 3M 5200 marine adhesive and layered with 360-degree unidirectional laminates. This results in a remarkably rigid, ocean-tested vessel.
- Single-Handed Mastery: All halyards, reefing lines, and sail controls run directly back to the high-visibility helm station.
- Electric Winch Command: A heavy-duty Harken electric self-tailing winch manages all core sail adjustments at the push of a button.
- Camber Spar Technology: Features a highly efficient, self-tacking full-batten fractional jib utilizing a camber spar for hands-free tacking.
- True Bluewater Dimensions: Offers a perfectly balanced 42-foot length overall, an expansive 21-foot beam for excellent stability, and a shoal-draft of 3 feet 8 inches to slide into shallow island anchorages.
The Ultimate Entertainment & Safety Cockpit
Step into a masterfully arranged cockpit optimized safe and dry offshore passages. The entire space is covered by an industry-exclusive, walkable aluminum hardtop Bimini and full radar arch.
- 360-Degree Helm Sightlines: A raised captain's chair places the skipper high above the deck for clear all-around visibility.
- Integrated Off-Grid Systems: The heavy-duty arch serves as a structural foundation for integrated dinghy davits and large solar array mountings.
Owner's Version Interior Layout
Below deck, the Manta 42 features the highly sought-after 3-stateroom, 2-head "Owner's Version" layout flooded with rich natural light and superior ventilation. The entire port hull is dedicated to the owner's primary private suite, featuring an aft queen-sized bed, extensive built-in cabinetry, and an oversized forward head with a completely separate walk-in shower stall.
- Spacious Main Salon: A wide U-shaped settee wraps around an adjustable dining table, accompanied by a clean, highly organized, and accessible custom AC/DC electrical master panel.
- Premium 3-burner propane stove with an oven, and deep double stainless steel sinks.
- Super Cold Refrigeration: An enormous, 10-cubic-foot top-loading deep refrigerator/freezer packed with 6 inches of high-density insulation and dual digital thermostats to keep supplies iced in the deep tropics.
Equipped with twin reliable Volvo Penta diesel inboard sail-drives cruising at a steady 7 knots, and supporting massive 120-gallon fuel and 100-gallon freshwater capacities, this vessel is fully prepared to take its next owners across oceans or off the grid immediately.
The current owners have truly enjoyed their experience aboard Namid. After eight years of ownership, five of which was living aboard full time while cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean, they have decided to move on to their next adventure.

“Sailboat Mike” Shebester:
As my name implies, I am someone that most people associate with sailing even though I have a passion for all types of boating. I learned to sail over 50 years ago and have been active in both cruising and racing. Although I am currently a land dweller, I lived aboard for over 20 years on a variety of boats. The thing that I love about sailing is that it can be either the most relaxing or intense activity that you can participate in depending on whether you are cruising or racing.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering and a background in the oil industry. I started my yacht selling career representing Beneteau Sailboats in 1992. I joined the Little Yacht Sales Team in May of 2022. I am a Certified Professional Yacht Broker.
For almost 30 years I have been successful in selling boats, but I am not a high-pressure salesman. My customers keep coming back to me for my product knowledge and my listening ability. Once I find out what features you want in a boat and how you are going to use it, I take my experience and product knowledge to steer you to the right boat. Let me help you find the right boat for you.
