- Restoration began in 2019 with the acquisition of the boat after the DEA release. subsequently, the boat’s aluminum hull was thoroughly audiogauged in every area, the bullet holes were patched, and the painted false water lines were corrected, and the restoration process was initiated.
- Several hidden safes still remain on the boat unopened since the early 1990s.
- The aluminum hull strikers are legendary for their light weight aluminum hull and accelerated fishing performance.
- The sound of the aluminum hull vibrating through the water is completely different than that of a recognized fiberglass hull. Striker owners will attest that the boat is indeed a “fish magnet”.
- This vessel combines the best of old solid craftsmanship and modern technology. over 2 million to date has been spent to bring this vessel back to its original splendor.
- The old copper coil air conditioning units were carefully removed and replaced with new compact CGI air conditioning units at 20% of the weight and 500% of the air output. During the restoration process, over 6000 pounds of antiquated and outdated parts were removed. The boat has new tin coated copper marine wiring throughout.
- The interior and exterior cushions are brand new and covered in a custom water resistant faux ostrich skin fabric. The teak and holly floors and stairs are pristine.
- This boat, originally named the sweet revenge, was part of the legendary black tuna drug smuggling gang operating out of Key Largo, that was brought to justice in the late 1990s. Dubbed operation Banco, the members were arrested and tried, leaving behind a bevy of top of the line luxury vessels including this 60’ fishing dream.
- This particular boat was meticulously maintained on a very regular basis so that a mechanical failure would never be an issue in the middle of a drug run. The waterlines on the boat were removed and placed higher so that when heavily laden it would appear void of heavy cargo.
- As luck would have it, sweet revenge’s luck ran out soon after Operation Banco went down.
- The boat was seized and placed in dry storage until sold at auction
