Description
Handyman/Dealer Special: Rare opportunity to purchase a well founded high quality houseboat at a greatly reduced price. Owners have moved on to land and don’t have the time or desire to take on the project themselves-their loss could be your very substantial monetary gain. The boat is and has been fully functioning as a liveaboard for the past 10 years and many more years prior to the current owner’s use. The nature of the needed repairs is limited non-structural requiring spot repairs to small areas of decking, sub flooring and limited sections of some sidewall areas as well as other typical items usually found on a survey. Repair estimates from local Boston based technicians will be available to serious buyers as well as a very recent professional marine survey. The interior is in very good condition with a beautiful galley and 3 staterooms one of which can function as an office if desired. The boat can actually be lived on in her present condition with all appliances and liveaboard systems in good working order. The repairs need to be done only because they have been uncovered at survey and need to be remedied primarily for insurability and future longevity. Again, they are NOT of a critical structural nature. Additionally, the boat has the greatly added value of being located at arguably the best liveaboard marina in the entire Northeast-the Charlestown Marina! AND-she can remain there for her new owner! This fact alone adds serious value to any houseboat! Call or write Ron Housman for more details and information.

Engine Details & Mechanical Equipment
* NOTE: the twin Mercruiser stern drives are inoperable as is the generator. No one drives houseboats like this in Boston Harbor so this is essentially insignificant and also eliminates 3 big maintenance items the new owner won’t have to worry about. The boat is insurable in this condition. The Charlestown marina almost never loses power for any serious extent of time so a generator is also unnecessary.

Ever since first steering his grandfather’s 1963 Hatteras motor yacht at the age of nine, Ron Housman has devoted himself to a life on water. For the past 32 years, this Boston/Ft Lauderdale-based broker has lived on motor yachts year-round, giving him a considerable edge over the heavy competition within the yacht brokerage business. Ron now keeps a year-round home in Lauderdale and summers aboard “Mai Toi”, his 56’ Hatteras Motoryacht in New England during the warmer months. Ron, in addition to being a CPYB (certified professional yacht broker) is also a USCG-licensed captain for vessels up to 100 tons. When he is not enjoying the cruising lifestyle himself, he is chartering his yacht in Boston, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
When recommending yachts for upscale clients – from sports stars and entertainers, to diplomats and business-people; he understands the world in which they operate.
“Because I live on a yacht, I understand what makes a yacht livable and conducive to spending more time on board,” says Ron. “I’ve been on 100-footers that feel like 70-footers, and 100-footers that feel like 130-footers – it’s all about layout and the ergonomics of the design.”
An eye for craftsmanship-
Before he launched Boston Yacht Consulting, Ron had his own custom furniture business for 25 years, designing high-end bespoke furniture and antique reproductions. This understanding of construction and craftsmanship makes him particularly skilled at vetting the quality of a yacht build and enables him to easily explain to clients exactly what they’re getting for their money. His commitment to red-carpet service extends to all aspects of his company, whether it’s finding a client the highest-quality vessel to suit their lifestyle, or helping those who dream of building their own luxury yacht.
As an affiliate of United Yacht Sales, the country’s largest yacht brokerage, Ron can access inside knowledge from a collegial network of professionals. But it’s the ongoing support that he offers beyond the sale that has enabled Ron to build and retain a loyal customer base. “I’m always available by phone, 24/7, to answer any question or take care of any problem that a client may have,” he says. “It’s as simple as that.”
Specializing in vessels from $500,000 to $100 million and beyond, Boston Yacht Consulting has the flexibility and authority to negotiate the best possible deals for its clients. A comprehensive consultation ensures the right fit and, as an instrument-rated private pilot with his own plane, Ron is able to fly his clients to inspect yachts all along the Eastern Seaboard.
A significant number of Ron’s clients are first-time yacht buyers and he’s passionate about sharing the calming powers of life at sea with them. “Being on the water, spending time on the water – it’s good for the soul,” says Ron. “I want people to experience that for themselves.”
