A third-generation Marathon native, the Florida Keys have always been James’s backyard. Born into a long-standing Keys fishing family, he has spent nearly his entire life on the water. From clearing lobster traps off the back of an old wooden boat at just five years old to watching his grandfather build a new wheelhouse on his father’s boat, James was captivated from the start. By the age of eight, he was confidently navigating offshore in his own 10-foot skiff. Boating has always been the foundation of James’s life.
James graduated from Marathon High School and earned a degree in Hospitality Management from Florida Atlantic University, giving him a client-first mindset rooted in service, communication, and long-term relationships. He returned to the Florida Keys to manage Captain Hook’s Marina and Dive Operation on Vaca Cut, working hands-on with boat owners, captains, and guests while overseeing daily marina operations. On his days off, James guided fishing and spearfishing trips—building the real-world, on-the-water experience that continues to set him apart.
After seven years as a hybrid charter and private captain, James went on to captain a 68-foot Viking—experience that opened the door to both the sportfishing and yachting markets. Today, he combines professional for-hire captaining with yacht brokerage at Silver King Yachts, offering clients a unique advantage: real operational knowledge, not just sales experience.
James specializes in helping buyers find the right boat—not just a boat—by matching layouts, performance, and intended use to each client’s lifestyle. His hands-on background in refits, private and for-hire captaining, yacht management, and new-build consulting allows him to guide clients confidently through every stage of ownership.
Calling the Florida Keys home with his family, James continues to do what he loves most—helping clients make smart, informed boating decisions backed by a lifetime on the water.
