Accomodations
The Jeanneau 36i features a bright, comfortable interior designed for extended cruising. Large hull ports, overhead hatches, and opening ports provide abundant natural light and ventilation, while reverse-cycle air conditioning ensures comfortable living in both hot and cool weather. Warm Fine Teak and solid wood joinery, molded liners, and practical storage throughout create an inviting living space that is both functional and easy to maintain.
Saloon
The companionway descends into the main saloon, where a U-shaped settee is located to starboard around a folding dining table. The U-shaped settee can convert to a double berth with a fold up panel. The table incorporates folding leaves, allowing it to serve as either a compact table for everyday use or a larger dining table when entertaining. Opposite, a straight settee provides additional seating and can serve as a sea berth underway.
Numerous lockers, shelves, and storage compartments are integrated throughout the saloon for provisions and personal gear. The electrical distribution panel and navigation instruments are conveniently located near the companionway for easy access.
With 2 reverse-cycle air conditioners (new in 2023 and 2026) you can be very comfortable at the dock or while connected to shore power.
Galley
The L-shaped galley is located immediately to port of the companionway, allowing the cook to brace securely while underway. It is equipped with a two-burner propane stove and oven, a stainless steel sink with pressurized hot and cold water, and a top-loading refrigerator.
Ample countertop space, dedicated storage lockers, drawers, and cabinets provide room for cookware, dishes, and provisions, making the galley well suited for extended cruising.
Navigation Station
Located aft of the starboard settee, the forward-facing navigation station provides a dedicated workspace for navigation and vessel management. The cart table itself slides forward to utilize the seat or aft to allow the entire port settee to be accessed. The chart table includes storage for charts and cruising guides, while electrical panels, battery monitors, VHF radio, and other navigation equipment are mounted within easy reach.
Forward Cabin
The forward cabin features a large V-berth with a custom innerspring mattress and sheet set from Yacht Bedding to create a generous sleeping area. Shelves, a hanging locker, and under-berth storage provide ample space for clothing and personal belongings. An overhead hatch with an integrated shade or screen supplies natural light and ventilation, supplemented by air conditioning for additional comfort.
Aft Cabin
The aft cabin is located to port beneath the cockpit and features a spacious double berth with a custom innerspring mattress and sheet set from Yacht Bedding, hanging locker, storage shelves, as well as an opening portlight and overhead hatch. Despite its location beneath the cockpit, the cabin provides comfortable accommodations for two adults and benefits from the added second air conditioning system.
Head
The single head compartment is located aft to starboard and is accessible from the main saloon. It includes a separate shower stall, manual marine toilet, molded vanity with sink, mirror, storage lockers, and pressurized hot and cold water. Ventilation is provided by an opening port and overhead hatch. There is also an AC vent in the head compartment.
Interior Finish
The interior is finished in Fine Teak with durable laminate cabin soles and cream-colored headliners that enhance the sense of space. Rounded corners, quality hardware, and thoughtfully designed storage contribute to a practical cruising interior that remains comfortable for both weekends aboard and extended voyages.
Overall, the Jeanneau 36i's two-cabin interior combines efficient use of space with comfortable accommodations for four to six people. The addition of reverse-cycle air conditioning enhances onboard comfort in a wide range of climates, making the yacht well suited for coastal cruising and extended time aboard.
Hull and Deck
The Jeanneau 36i features a clean, efficient deck layout designed for short-handed cruising while maintaining good sailing performance. Wide side decks, unobstructed passageways, and all primary sail controls led aft to the cockpit make the boat easy to handle under sail.
Foredeck
At the bow, the yacht is equipped with an Quick electric anchor windlass mounted just aft of the bow roller assembly. The windlass is operated by a handheld remote that is stowed in the anchor locker, allowing the anchor to be deployed and retrieved safely from the foredeck. The anchor locker provides storage for the anchor rode and chain, with direct access to the windlass gypsy. A large aluminum bow cleat is positioned on each side for securing dock lines and anchor snubbers.
Double lifelines run the length of the deck, supported by stainless steel stanchions, providing secure movement between the cockpit and foredeck.
Side Decks
The side decks are wide and relatively uncluttered, allowing safe passage forward. Teak handrails on the coachroof provide additional security while moving on deck. Shrouds are positioned inboard to allow for tighter sheeting angles.
Coachroof
The coachroof houses the sliding companionway hatch and washboard leading into the cabin. Two coachroof-mounted winches handle the mainsheet, halyards and, reefing lines that are led aft from the mast through rope clutches.
Because the yacht is equipped with an in-mast furling mainsail, there are no conventional slab reefing lines or lazy jacks. Instead, the mainsail is deployed and reefed using:
- The mainsail outhaul
- The in-mast furling line
- The mainsail halyard (normally set once after hoisting)
These controls are led aft to the cockpit, allowing the mainsail to be reefed or stowed without leaving the helm.
Mast
The aluminum mast incorporates a Selden internal furling system for the mainsail. The sail rolls vertically into the mast, eliminating the need for sail ties or a stack pack. Proper sail furling requires maintaining moderate tension on both the outhaul and furling line while keeping the boom near horizontal.
Cockpit
The cockpit is spacious with long bench seats to port and starboard surrounding a central folding cockpit table. The steering wheel is large enough to allow for several different seating positions for the helmsman.
The engine controls, throttle, and navigation instruments are located adjacent to the helm.
Primary sheet winches are mounted within easy reach of the helm, while the coachroof winches handle the mainsheet, halyards and. furling controls.
The mainsheet traveler is mounted on the coachroof forward of the companionway, leaving the cockpit sole unobstructed.
The headsail is controlled by jib sheets led to the primary cockpit winches. The genoa, the furling line is also led aft to the cockpit.
The cockpit is shaded by a large bimini (Canvas new 7/2026) on a stainless steel frame.
There is a centerline dropleaf table forward of the steering pedestal.

Stern
The stern features a sugar scoop that provides easy access to the dock and to the water via a 3-step stainless steel swim ladder. Stern locker stores shore power cables, dock lines, fenders, and other cruising equipment. Integrated life raft locker. Stern cleats are positioned on both quarters for docking and mooring.
Hull
The last bottom job was in March of 2024
This boat has a shoal draft cast iron keel with a flattened torpedo shaped bulb.
There are six large aluminum mooring cleats.
Overall, the Jeanneau 36i's deck layout emphasizes ease of operation, with the electric windlass simplifying anchoring and the in-mast furling mainsail allowing the sail to be hoisted, reefed, and stowed almost entirely from the safety of the cockpit.
