Description
2018 Lagoon 42 — An award-winning cruising catamaran with the space, style, and sailing confidence today’s buyers want. Designed by VPLP Design with exterior styling by Patrick le Quément and interiors by Nauta Design, the Lagoon 42 blends modern French catamaran innovation with the easygoing comfort that has made this model one of Lagoon’s most successful designs. With her distinctive coachroof, generous beam, open cockpit-to-salon flow, and efficient sail plan, she delivers a rare balance of liveaboard comfort, manageable handling, and true cruising capability.
At 43'4" overall with a 25'2" beam, the Lagoon 42 feels remarkably spacious for her size, offering wide decks, an inviting aft cockpit, and a bright panoramic salon that opens through large sliding doors. The low-step transition from the swim platforms into the cockpit creates effortless movement aboard, while the sheltered, well-ventilated cockpit is ideal for relaxed entertaining, sundowners at anchor, or easy watchkeeping underway.
Under sail, the 2018 Lagoon 42 is engineered for confidence and simplicity. Her mast is positioned further aft, paired with a self-tacking jib and centralized line handling, making her approachable for short-handed cruising without sacrificing performance. Standard twin 57 HP Yanmar diesels provide dependable maneuverability, while published specifications list a 4'2" draft, 67'7" air draft, approximately 26,681 lb light displacement, 1,011 sq. ft. upwind sail area, 160 gallons of fresh water capacity, and about 151 gallons of fuel capacity.
Inside, the Lagoon 42 emphasizes light, privacy, and contemporary comfort. Large windows draw the horizon into the salon, the galley and living spaces are arranged for sociable cruising. The 4-cabin layouts support everything from owner-operated voyaging to family adventures or premium charter use. Her accommodations can sleep 8, giving buyers exceptional flexibility in a proven platform.
Recognized with major multihull awards, including Cruising World’s 2017 Boat of the Year honors and Sailing Today’s 2016 Multihull recognition, the Lagoon 42 remains highly sought-after for good reason. She is modern, capable, elegant, and practical—equally appealing to couples planning extended cruising, families seeking a comfortable island-hopping platform, or buyers looking for a strong, marketable catamaran in the 42-foot class.
This 2018 Lagoon 42 represents the sweet spot of contemporary catamaran ownership: manageable size, impressive volume, proven design pedigree, and the comfort to turn every passage, anchorage, and weekend aboard into something memorable.

“Sailboat Mike” Shebester:
As my name implies, I am someone that most people associate with sailing even though I have a passion for all types of boating. I learned to sail over 50 years ago and have been active in both cruising and racing. Although I am currently a land dweller, I lived aboard for over 20 years on a variety of boats. The thing that I love about sailing is that it can be either the most relaxing or intense activity that you can participate in depending on whether you are cruising or racing.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering and a background in the oil industry. I started my yacht selling career representing Beneteau Sailboats in 1992. I joined the Little Yacht Sales Team in May of 2022. I am a Certified Professional Yacht Broker.
For almost 30 years I have been successful in selling boats, but I am not a high-pressure salesman. My customers keep coming back to me for my product knowledge and my listening ability. Once I find out what features you want in a boat and how you are going to use it, I take my experience and product knowledge to steer you to the right boat. Let me help you find the right boat for you.
