Description
2003 Beneteau Oceanis 361
Step aboard the 2003 Beneteau Oceanis 361 and discover why this Berret-Racoupeau design remains one of Beneteau’s most appealing mid-size cruisers. With an overall length of approximately 36 feet 5 inches, a generous 12-foot 6-inch beam, and a smartly arranged cruising layout, the Oceanis 361 delivers the rare combination of easy handling, inviting accommodations, and confident sailing performance in a size that is comfortable to own and simple to enjoy.
Designed as a masthead sloop with a fin keel, bulb ballast, and spade rudder, the Oceanis 361 is known for predictable manners under sail and a rewarding turn of speed in light to moderate conditions. Her reported sail area of roughly 592 square feet, 31-foot waterline, and hull speed near 7.5 knots give her the legs for coastal passages, weekend escapes, and extended cruising, while her moderate draft makes her practical for a wide range of cruising grounds.
Below deck, this model is celebrated for its volume and livability. The broad beam carried aft creates a spacious salon, comfortable private cabins, excellent headroom of about 6 feet 4 inches, and the kind of storage and tankage cruisers appreciate. The two-cabin owner’s arrangement especially admired for its large aft cabin and separate shower stall—an uncommon luxury in this size range.
On deck, the Oceanis 361 reflects Beneteau’s practical cruising philosophy: wide working areas, a secure cockpit, wheel steering, and systems arranged for straightforward sailing. With published specifications showing diesel auxiliary power, approximately 20 gallons of fuel capacity, and substantial freshwater capacity, she is well suited for daysailing, family cruising, and longer adventures where comfort and simplicity matter.
For buyers seeking a capable cruiser with a proven pedigree, the 2003 Beneteau Oceanis 361 offers a compelling blend of French design, modern cruising comfort, and manageable performance. She is large enough to feel like a true cruising yacht, yet approachable enough for a couple or small family to handle with confidence. Whether your next owner is dreaming of sunset sails, island weekends, or a comfortable liveaboard-style escape, the Oceanis 361 makes an inviting case the moment they come aboard.

“Sailboat Mike” Shebester:
As my name implies, I am someone that most people associate with sailing even though I have a passion for all types of boating. I learned to sail over 50 years ago and have been active in both cruising and racing. Although I am currently a land dweller, I lived aboard for over 20 years on a variety of boats. The thing that I love about sailing is that it can be either the most relaxing or intense activity that you can participate in depending on whether you are cruising or racing.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering and a background in the oil industry. I started my yacht selling career representing Beneteau Sailboats in 1992. I joined the Little Yacht Sales Team in May of 2022. I am a Certified Professional Yacht Broker.
For almost 30 years I have been successful in selling boats, but I am not a high-pressure salesman. My customers keep coming back to me for my product knowledge and my listening ability. Once I find out what features you want in a boat and how you are going to use it, I take my experience and product knowledge to steer you to the right boat. Let me help you find the right boat for you.
