Description
The Island Packet 320 has earned a reputation as one of the finest cruising sailboats in her class. It combines legendary offshore capability with exceptional comfort, quality construction, and timeless styling. Designed by Bob Johnson, the 320 features Island Packet's signature full-foil keel, cutter rig, and spacious interior, making her equally at home on the Great Lakes, coastal cruising, or extended passages.
This 2000 Island Packet 320 has spent the last six years in fresh water and is being offered as-is at $89,900, presenting an excellent opportunity to own one of the most respected cruising sailboats ever built. She has been well cared for, is exceptionally clean throughout, and is ready for her next adventure after replacement of the leaking holding tank.
Mechanically and structurally, several important upgrades have already been completed. The standing rigging was replaced in 2024, providing peace of mind for years of cruising ahead, and the cutlass bearing is new. Her original sails remain in good condition, and the in-mast furling mainsail makes sail handling easy whether sailing short-handed or with family aboard.
The cockpit is designed for comfortable days on the water, featuring cockpit cushions, a dodger, and a bimini, both replaced approximately five years ago, providing excellent protection from the elements while maintaining the classic Island Packet appearance.
Below decks, the warm teak interior showcases the craftsmanship Island Packet is known for. The cabin is bright, inviting, and remarkably spacious for a 32-foot cruiser. Comfort features include air conditioning, a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and custom-fitted sheets for the forward V-berth, allowing the next owner to step aboard and immediately begin enjoying life afloat.
The boat is equipped with modern electronics that were installed approximately six years ago, including:
- Wind instrument
- Speed instrument
- Depth sounder
- Autopilot
Ground tackle is handled by an electric anchor windlass, making anchoring safe and convenient whether cruising local waters or spending extended time on the hook.
The only significant item known to require attention is the holding tank, which is leaking and should be replaced. The asking price reflects this condition, making this an outstanding value for buyers willing to complete that project. Once addressed, this Island Packet 320 will be ready to continue the dependable cruising legacy these boats are famous for.
If you've been searching for a premium cruising sailboat with legendary build quality, forgiving sailing characteristics, and a reputation for taking excellent care of her crew, this 2000 Island Packet 320 deserves your attention. Clean, well-equipped, and located in Rochester, New York, she represents a rare opportunity to own one of Island Packet's most desirable models at an attractive price.
