Owners Comments and Boat History

Second Spray has spent the majority of her life cruising the Caribbean under the care of experienced owners who continually invested in meaningful upgrades and meticulous maintenance. For approximately 15 years, she was owned by a Canadian couple who extensively cruised the region while completing numerous improvements. The previous owner, an engineer by trade, maintained the vessel to a high standard, while his wife crafted many of the custom canvas additions that remain aboard today.

The current owner purchased the yacht in Grenada during the COVID-19 pandemic and spent approximately 18 months cruising throughout the Eastern Caribbean before basing her at Puerto Bahia Marina in the Dominican Republic. During this time, the vessel proved herself to be a capable and confidence-inspiring offshore cruiser, comfortably handling heavy weather while remaining easily managed single-handed thanks to her cutter rig, all lines led aft, and protected cockpit.

The warm teak interior, spacious salon, practical U-shaped galley, and private two-cabin, two-head layout have made her an exceptionally comfortable liveaboard. The accessible engine installation has also simplified routine maintenance, and the yacht comes with an extensive inventory of spare parts accumulated over years of conscientious ownership.

Although the current owner has spent extended periods working in Asia over the past three years, Second Spray has continued to receive regular care, including weekly cleaning and ventilation while berthed at Puerto Bahia Marina. The marina offers excellent facilities, helpful staff, convenient customs services, restaurants, and resort amenities, making it an outstanding base for Caribbean cruising.

A notable highlight of her ownership history is the exceptional care given to the Yanmar diesel engine. Shortly after purchasing the vessel, a previous owner completed Mack Boring's intensive three-day Yanmar engine maintenance course, specifically focused on this engine model and offshore self-sufficiency. Combined with meticulous routine servicing, regular oil and filter changes, and an exceptionally clean engine compartment, the engine has remained highly reliable and continues to start immediately.
