Description
Few hulls have earned their reputation the way the Bertram 31 has. Sixty-plus years after the Ray Hunt deep-V design proved itself offshore, it remains the benchmark for a small boat that handles a bad day. This 1984 Flybridge is a well-sorted, diesel-powered example that has been maintained as a serious fishing platform, not a project.
Power comes from twin Cummins 315 hp diesels with 3,400 hours, controlled by single-lever Morse throttles and paired with trolling valves for precise trolling speeds. The heat exchangers and aftercoolers were recently professionally serviced. Fuel capacity is 300 gallons across a 220-gallon main and three 25-gallon saddle tanks, giving her legitimate canyon range. A 3.5 kW Kubota generator supports air conditioning and heat, hot water, and the galley appliances.
Recent work includes new trim tab actuators and hoses and new underwater lights, both in 2026. Running gear consists of 1-3/4" shafts with four-blade wheels and PSS dripless shaft seals, and a spare pair of three-blade props is included.
She is rigged for offshore fishing and running at night: tower with two 500-watt halogen lights plus a 12V LED night blaster, custom hull vents with Dorad boxes, V-berth rod holders, windlass with anchor winch, block heaters, remote emergency start, and an AirSep crankcase filtration system. Below, she carries a complete standard Bertram head (included in the sale, not pictured), 30-gallon fresh water tank, hot water heater, microwave, and K-Cup coffee maker. The enclosure is EZ2CY Isinglass.
